Maybe we'll win 80% of our games against them this year and knock them out of playoff contention.

Gah... the ad under this thread is nothing but Texas Rangers gear... can the mods prevent such ads?

Kill the thread entirely, and it won't matter. It has all the feel of a "DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN" banner headline.

Well, we knew they were not as bad as they started and not as good as their last 12 games. So the law of averages say they will end up somewhere in-between.

Still not too worried if our guys get healthy.

I think the Astros are the better team, too. But the Rangers aren't even close to healthy. They've been missing Cole and Beltre while putting it together They're improving, and there's no reason to think they won't get better when they get those guys back.

I think you need to dust off and nuke the entire thread from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Hey the Astros won another 1 run game tonight! They are now 8-4 in such affairs, while the Rangers of Arlington sport a less than stellar 4-7 mark. Cheers!

Arlington struck out 20 times last night tying an MLB record for a 9 inning game. To bad Gomez wasn't available in this game to help them get the record all to themselves.

Yep, but the umpires blew the call on that one and allowed him to reach first base. Ball actually hit him after he swung so it should not have been a "WP/K allowing the runner to reach first", but should have just been a K with a dead ball after hitting him.

I would have to think, winning 12 in a row and only picking up 2 games in the standings, was a bit demoralizing. More so that they promptly lost those two games over the next five.

We saw it 2016 with the Astros - digging an early hole and then playing catch-up is HARD. Especially if the team you're trying to catch isn't helping. While the Rangers were winning 12 straight, the Astros took 10 of 12. That's brutal.

The Astros need to keep their foot on the gas, obviously- but they've created enough of a gap that they don't have to maintain a 112-win pace to keep their lead. It's nice.

The Rangers were an 81-81 team last year if not for some pretty incredible luck in 1 run games. They look like the same team as last year pretty much, without much luck.
