Damn. Heard this news earlier but have been working all day. As soon as I sat down at home just a flood of memories about everything that's happened in my life featuring his music. Playing his music with my brothers. Fooling around at the beach at night. Drunk after-party acoustic sessions with friends. So sad man. RIP CC. Wish there was some way me telling him that he gave me so much joy made a difference.

I was shocked when I read he died at 52. I was thinking brain aneurysm or something. Never in a million years was I thinking suicide.

    I still cannot believe it.

I absolutely can't figure out how Perry Farrell is still alive.

The guy everyone thought would go first but will probably outlive all his peers.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was something as basic as he knew his voice was declining and that, combined with drugs, gives you the feeling that when you can't do the only thing you want to do, what's the point in living? Like Million-Dollar Baby.

I wonder if this is just one of those brought on by the highs and lows of being on the road. The road can be a very lonely place. But, performing is an obvious high for all musicians. It's so strange to go from the high of just performing to the low of killing yourself in the span of a few hours. This had to be spontaneous brought on by something. I don't see him planning to do this last night. If so, then that is just messed up.

And, how do you reconcile all that stuff in that story with Chris just pouring his heart out to his wife on social media on Mother's Day. Something doesn't add up.

This news of Chris just keeps hitting me over and over in waves. I keep thinking about how last night was his last time to ever sing "Spoonman" and "Black Hole Sun" in concert or ever again. It is depressing and I kind of get teary-eyed.

I've been doing nothing but Youtubing his acoustic songs on TV all night. Don't care if not manly, this one hurts for a lot of us who grew up in the frenzy of the grundge explosion. So much classic stuff that finally got rid of the glam rock and pop fluff for those of us who loathed it. Plus the memories. So freaking many it's unreal.

I could see something like this happening if Chris relapsed on OxyContin. That's really all I can figure.

Oh my, in my reference to Ian Curtis above, I didn't realize he died on May 18th as well by the same method of suicide. WTF!!!???

Sad he is gone, my theory is that it wasn't suicide, just bad luck while auto-erotic asphyxiation himself.

Cornell's wife said that his anxiety drug caused him to do this. It is the medicine that he took which can cause suicidal thoughts caused him to do it. He didn't leave this world with his mind, it was something that made his mind to do it. All the people close to him bandmates, friends will tell you he had no problems until the medicine took him over. It is one reason, I never take medicine for anything. My wife knows medicine well.

I get what you're saying but unfortunately some people really need their meds. People with certain mood/psychological disorders etc. don't really have a choice like this. Maybe the anxiety med was the only way he could live w/ the stress of being a star w/o taking harder drugs, obviously I don't know but sometimes it's not as easy as saying I'm not taking the meds.
