WC in Texas lately are getting worst and worst and they love to deny liability or trying to claim that your injury is pre-existing.
Surgery done this morning, 1st rehab done this afternoon, Thursday and Friday off of work to recover, and back to work on Monday. Finally on the road to recovery.
They usually try to see if you can do a little bit of cycling, passive stretching and possible ultrasound or ems modality followed by icing the knee at the end of therapy. Moving the joint helps push the swelling out after surgery
Back at work. No restrictions with theapy three days per week for a month. HVIC is right. Tens unit to begin with a cold pack. Then some massage, followed by table exercises....Quad contractions to straighten the knee...leg lifts, heel rolls....then off to the gym area for some more passive stretching. Seven and a half months took a toll on my leg. It's weak as hell, and I'm sore from doing passive stretches. At least I'm now healing and not using crutches.
Well, the removed the flap tear, smoothed the area, thinned the chondromalacia, and scraped up the cartilage to promote cartilage scar growth...It was removal and repair of surrounding area.
Good luck to your rehab. I tore my ACL 2 weeks ago and have surgery scheduled for mid June. It'll probably take me a while longer to get up and walking like you though.
I tore my lateral meniscus back in high school. Bending the knee was extremely painful (if it was beyond what you'd do walking). Rehabbed without surgery (apparently that's normal for laterals) but I've heard medials are much much more painful and complicated. Hope all heals up okay. I feel for you.
The worst part of my situation is the 7 months on a crutch. I lost 3 cm in my thigh in atrophy. I'm stuggling to straighten my leg on leg flexion is only 50%. I have to make a conscious effort every step I take not to walk with a limp. I'm sure all this is because the 7 months of waiting. Good luck with your surgery and recovery. The sooner the better.
I'm surprised how much therapy takes out of me. I come home exhausted...feels like I swam for hours in the pool... The hardest part is the leg straightening. my hamstrings are not tight, but my knee will not stay flush on a table. The therapist thinks its the swelling in the knee that is causing the discomfort and keeping my knee from getting straight. I can't wait to get through this.
I did have that part about not straightening your leg. That took a long time to do comfortably. Made it tough to sleep.
I slip my left foot under my right knee at night so my gf won't get pissed and tell Ramsay Therapist.
