This wouldn't be happening if Trump wasn't such an idiot who spends more time in Mar-a-Lago and boasting about his electoral win than actually doing his job. Clearly Trump did not know that the information that he blurted out was classified. We have a complete buffoon in office who is way over his head. It's just one colossal f**** up after another.

Exactly. He's more of a danger when he's acting the role. Just go on vacation forever.

Would something like this be a censurable action?

It's consistent with Trump's rhetoric about cooperating with Russia against ISIS.

I think over whelming percentage of those that voted for him will vote for him again, the people who are changing are the ones sitting on the fence and voted for third party candidates or did not care enough to vote at all. We shall see in 2018 and 2020 what this country is made of.

As it's always been for me, this is just an issue of trust. That I don't trust Trump to be a good president (a distrust I have good cause for -- I'm not doubting). It's really not good to have all this second-guessing of a president though. If you have a competent president playing at least 2-dimensional chess, this is the sort of thing in which a citizen needs to trust his president is doing the best one could expect. If Obama had done it, I'd have all sorts of rationalizations because, generally I trust Obama to be smart, strategic, prepared, and careful. And there's far too much I don't know about this disclosure for me to say whether it was a good choice or a bad one. In fact, there's plenty to not like here. Anonymous leak from a closed conversation intended to embarrass the president, that's not good. A characterization easily accepted that the information was shared in a bragging way with the implication that it wasn't strategic, that's assuming the worst. A narrative that the president is making mistakes out of ignorance and incompetence, which might not be fair. Honestly, it's possible the disclosure was carefully considered (even if the delivery was staged as offhand) and strategically chosen to serve our country's long-term interests. It's possible. And, I generally want to give presidents my trust, especially in international relations. But I really have none at all when it comes to Trump. I have no faith in his abilities, his wisdom, his intentions, his values -- none at all in any dimension. So, I don't like this microscopic examination of everything he does when journalists have woefully inadequate information, I don't like the second-guessing when the second guessers have a terrible perspective from which to see the best path forward, but I have no confidence at all that the president is actually right here either. I'm just going to put this episode to the side and go back to what I do think I know, that Trump is a terrible person to have as president.

I think it depends on who the Democrats run honestly. The ONLY reason Trump won is because they nominated pretty much the biggest joke of a candidate possible. I can't even imagine how they could do worse, but if they manage to, it could lead to a second term. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes and nominate a legitimate candidate for president this time around and that'll go a long way towards swaying voters to actually get out to the polls.

But was stupid and dangerous in how it was done, putting intel sources at risk, causing allies to no longer trust the United States and be less willing to share their intel.

When Bush Jr. actually had Putin at a meeting to share information, he gave the people who did the daily briefings put together a specially formatted briefing so that Russia could get the information important but not risk our future ability to continue to get information.

All Trump did was to put human beings on the ground cooperating with the U.S. at risk, and make the U.S. less likely to receive intel from allies.

The only thing this was consistent with was a stupid move.

I agree with your assessment, although I am pretty sure Clinton was is will be better than Trump, she was not a good candidate.

Clinton could run again and beat Trump in 2020, why because people would have seen 4 years of Trump.
