Sandoval was a big money overslot signee (>$700k). Big curveball, good sign to see him inserted into High A. But I'm starting to suspect that BCs proximity to Florida is why we're seeing a lot of these EST guys there initially (whether it be a spot appearance or a stopover on their way to QC).
Was pretty cool in the Quad Cities last week (upper 60s-low 70s for highs), although they were on the road. They're back home and there's some rain in the forecast for this upcoming series with Burlington.
Francis Martes allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits (solo homer), walked 4, and struck out 3 in 3 innings yesterday.
Same here. If he can string together a few solid starts that will calm down some of the concern, but this isn't the way you want him to start the season; especially if you wind up wanting to ship him out as the centerpiece of a trade package.
There are 8 lefty pitchers on the High A roster. Thinking there may be a coach there the development staff wants those guys to be under.
With Patrick Sandoval's promotion, there are only 15 former Houston draft picks left in Extended Spring Training: From 2014: LHP Ben Smith (17th rd) had cancer probably needs to build up strength C Ruben Castro (19) young RHP Robert Kahana (32) MIA 2015: OF Nestor Muriel (6) young RHP Scott Weathersby (10) likely injured 2B Brooks Marlow (29) likely either injured or pending release due to internet stupidity 2016: IF Abraham Toro (5) young and switching positions RHP Chad Donato (11) was injured last year RHP Colin McKee (18) ??? IF LP Pelletier (20) young 1B Troy Sieber (24) ??? LHP Nathan Thompson (27) ??? IF Brody Westmoreland (30) ??? RHP Ian Hardman (36) ???
In fairness to him, she is terrible. But of course he led it off with No Woman, so he screwed himself.
Currently 0-2 with a sac fly We'll probably see Miguelangel Sierra soon as the weather warms up in Iowa.
Carson LaRue allowed an unearned run on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7 this afternoon for Quad Cities.
