I can believe another injury but not a concussion. The NBA has a very strict concussion protocol and no matter if it's game 7 in the nba finals and the player want to play he isn't allowed to.

As a fan of the Rockets team, I don't want Harden to leave Houston. It would be bad for the team, their future, and their chance of winning a championship. I'm not sure what your beef with faulting Harden for his crappy performance but still believing he's our best option for the team.

I think there's something to this. I was in the section next to him last night at Dreams and James kept spilling all over the place every time he popped a new bottle. His form was atrocious. Had to have been a concussion... He just spent way too much time staring at the sparklers on the bottles.

I am a Rockets fan too. But I can't support a player that quits. He is our best player and a elite talent. But he's also known to hide in crucial playoff games. Win a championship? Let's face it. The Rockets will NEVER go anywhere with their best player tanking playoff games. We need to bring in guys with better character

Well, we don't know why he has a problem in some critical playoff games. It may be that working on that aspect is an easier fix than kicking him off the team, trading him for lesser value, or tanking season in the hopes of getting a draft pick that will be able to somehow take us further.

We do know he made strides in his game adapting to a new position and new system. It was the first year of the system and he brought the team deeper than most experts believed possible at the beginning of the year.

What we should face is the fact that neither you or I know if he's incapable of ever winning a championship or definitely will win a championship. The future, either way, is far from certain.

This, and a concussion is easy to diagnose. Otherwise it'd mean the franchise docs knowingly tampered with the medical examination, which would be the NBA scandal of the decade and there's no way the franchise execs are that dumb.

Common sense isn't so common around these parts. Making excuses for your "superstar" when he does the same disappearing act every year is the only way to become a "good poster" or "real fan"

I would've ordered an MRI for you if you didn't post in the Lin thread.

I actually just wrote a post arguing that the Rockets should work on the mental health of their players in addition to their physical health and game mechanics. If you'd possibly be interested in reading it, here's the link.

I found a link explaining the NBA's concussion protocol for anyone that's interested.

The article was written after Kevin Love's concussion last year. What stuck out to me, though, in the article were these lines: "He was examined then and showed no signs of a concussion, Cavs trainers told Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com. Love came back out after halftime, but quickly left the game in the third quarter complaining of dizziness. Trainers again examined Love and determined he was displaying symptoms of a concussion."

So, either the signs were missed by the trainers on the immediate examination after Love took the hit, OR they developed later as time went on. In either case, it's very believable to me that James would play through it all, and wouldn't get a followup examination. I don't know, but if Love went back out on the floor with the trainers' okay after a hit that eventually WAS diagnosed as a concussion, there's at least the possibility the same thing happened to Harden. Seems worthy of investigation. If he was concussed, two high profile cases not immediately caught could cause the NBA to change some things about how it handles potential concussions.

I went back and rewatched the fore arm shiver he took from Gasol and it got him right across his cheek bone. He missed the 2nd free throw and kept driving to the basket without fear til the OT.

My theory is he heard all the noise after not passing @ end of OT so he went into operation Ima show y'all I can pass it to prove a point. Childlike.

I never pretended to be a doctor. Don't pretend to be a psychologist arguing for ambiguity in all things.

Concussions don't have a "wide ranging impact" on people in the short-term (they do in the long-term), rather there is a large gradient of severity. They have protocols for tests to see if someone has had one, like pupillary responsiveness and semantic memory testing. How do you magically think they diagnose them? Talk about not knowing anything about science....

They had days to give him tests and MRIs or CT scans, and if they put him on the court with a bad concussion, yikes to the Rockets' training staff and liability.

Although he was battling a cold, had a concussion, his dog probably died, whatever makes you all happy to excuse him for his pathetic performance.

Harden should find a new hobby instead of staying up past 5 am every night partying before games while still hungover during the game.

Gordon Hayward, who Morey is targetting this off-season. His hobbies are videogames and movies. So at least he won't be out at 5 am jerking off with his frat boys.
