Not that I disagree, but Gordon did dribble off his foot from the defensive pressure on the next to last possession that lead to the jumpball.
I'm no expert on who or if anyone out there would be trade material. What I do know is that the coach needs to coach better. All I said was that if James can't be coached, because he is the "expert" then I think we have a problem, and we will never win a championship that way. I just think he lets James go too far with the ISO ball, and leaves him in too long at times. When he gets tired, stops defending, slows the game down, dribbles for 20 seconds before passing last second or shooting last second, then you can't tell me he is doing the best he can do for our team. When he takes twice as many 3's as anyone else then you can't tell me he is doing the best to help our team. He needs to use his skill sets better, which are his ability to drive inside, make awesome passes, and continue with the good rebounding and assists. He just plays too long, loses focus, slows us down, starts making sloppy turnovers, then that's when the coach needs to rest him, coach him, substitute him for awhile, and get him going in the right direction. The same goes for when those other guys just pass it straight back to James in a split second. The coach needs to put them on the bench and replace them with someone who isn't afraid to take a shot. There is no reason our guys on the bench aren't getting more minutes.
That's the problem, Mchale was a joke and never should have been hired. His disastrous Minnesota Timberwolves tenure goes beyond words. Bottom line is that when Mchale shows up in an NBA front office, a tsunami of idiotic decisions will follow. When you miss on Kawhi, Butler, and Thomas on the same night, should Morey really beat his chest over "finding" the overrated, overpaid and often injured Chandler Parsons? I would trade 3 Parsons for one of the guys we missed on.
I dont disagree with what yer sayin here... Mchale was an idiot, JBB was an idiot... I put those on Morey who just wanted a 'yes man' - a tool to execute his vision... which is why RA was shown the door... and DM has notoriously underrated coaching... not disagreeing that I'd take any of those guys over Chandler... but drafting a 2nd rounder who manages to get not 1 but 2 max contracts from other teams... does speak to a high return on a 2nd round pick investment...
I have no problem with Harden hogging but when he does he has to go to the basket more often. You can't dribble the clock down and shoot contested threes. Drive, get fouled.
Exactly! He should drive more, draw fouls, and do what he is good at, and stop taking twice as many 3's as everyone else when he is our worst 3 pt shooter. That's why I have a problem with him ball hogging. But, it like I said, I blame D'Antonio for letting him ball hog, because when he does, he persists in dribbling the clock down and shooting contested threes.
Not playing more than 7 players, specifically Harrell and Decker, has a negative effect on trust with the coach. I can imagine them resenting Dantonio for not playing at all in the playoffs (save garbage time) after performing pretty well and actually contributing in the regular season.
I agree. It can't make them feel good about him not having enough faith in them to come in and give our starters a break. I like watching our bench in there at times. They bring a lot of energy, hustle their you know whats off, and don't slow down the game. Not only that, but the couple minutes they did play some looked pretty good.
That offense in OT reminded me why I'm still waiting for that 3rd ring. When your best player consistently takes shots where you are constantly saying, No! No! Why? He made it!? It's just not a winning formula and you will eventually get disappointed.
He is PLAYING HIM TO MANY MINS..... he looks like a boxer that thrown to many punches and has NOTHING LEFT IN THE TANK ... If you want to do a 7 man rotation you have to do like they use to do in the 90's pull your star player out for like 2 mins, every 5 mins in the second half, and just give him a few mins on the bench.
I'm pretty sure they all needed more rest, and not just James. The Spurs played a few guys a lot of minutes too. James isn't as old as some of the others, and certainly isn't putting near as much effort on running and defending guys when he is in there. But, even when we do rotate guys in more I think James wants to stay in too long, and gets winded, and then tends to slow the game down or just stand around in the paint on defense. I'd be good with him sitting out a lot more, so he doesn't play so sloppy and slow the game down. Our bench brings that fresh energized speedy flow to our game, and we need that. This, and the stuff I already mentioned in my post is where a coach needs to be the coach, and not vice versa. Otherwise your star player is going to do nothing but let you and your team down, and never win a championship.
