Rockets looked confused and tired in OT. They didn't get the defensive rebound when Spurs got 3 offensive rebounds but was still up by three. In that possession, the coach HAD TO call a time out to get his team a minute or two of rest and draw up a play to get two points in that possession. He had three time outs at this moment. If Rockets scored in THAT possession, Game Over! Instead, Harden turned the ball over and the Spurs scored. This loss is on D'Antoni
Equal blame is on Harden and D'Antoni. Harden did a terrible job of managing the game in OT. He did everything that point guards are told not to do.
this loss is on Harden...dude lost his mind off the dribble brick threes while dribbling away the entire shot clock, careless turnovers, and the and-1 for Danny Green
same things happened with mchale tho. i'm not a fan of d'antoni at all, but what can he do when harden can't play off ball, has limited offensive moves, passes up layups at the rim, and turns the ball over?
I guarantee you D'Antoni is not drawing up Harden iso step back three. Harden took the reins and heroballed his way to a loss. No better than Westbrook.
Harden does have some blame, but it was obvious he was gassed. Someone else should have handled the ball after two Harden turn overs. Notice how Pop sat out Leonard as to not hurt the team.
I cant almost bet 1,000 dollars that D'Antoni did not instruct Harden to spend 7 seconds walking the ball up court and hold the ball for the remaining 13 seconds and then jack up a three and/or turn the ball over 3x.
D'Antoni is incredible in virtually all aspects... ....except for knowing when to call time outs. He genuinely does not understand the harm he does.
Or maybe play more than seven players in an OT game. And now MDA saying the team was tired at the end. No joke. Good grief.
Not D'Antoni's fault. As a coach, the best you can do is draw up plays. The PG is the coach on the floor. Harden was not being a coach on the floor. I've never seen a superstar that holds the ball until 5 sec to actually do something. If he's gassed, why does he keep coming to receive the ball?
