This was in 2013 and I don't want to spend much time looking it up. But either way no one forced you to spend $60 odd million on the guy. He probably wasn't perfect during his time here but we also went after LeBron, Bosh, Horford, Bazemore, Aldridge, among many others. Now I don't care about Bazemore as he is a role player, but which one of the other star free agents signed on the dotted line to play in Houston? When was the last time a prominent FA chose Houston? Now don't mention Eric Gordon or Ryan Anderson because while they are very good players they certainly weren't top tier like Dwight was in 2013.

Even in 2013 I think there was only 3 teams after him. US, Lakers and Warriors but after his quitting in 016 season in Houston no one wanted him anymore. Dwight now has a reputation for being a malcontent.

That video is pretty stinking fantastic. If Houston had done something like this, I'd think our recruiting team is pretty dang good.

Hayward is not going anywhere outside of Utah unless they ask him to take a discount. His family loves it there and have already settled down and he'll get the ultramax under the new CBA in Utah.

He's basically in a Melo situation except his team is actually good and have a promising future.

If Morey and the Rockets see serious about Hayward then James Harden will be on his door step on the eve of free agency. I'll have to see that to believe it. Surprise me Prince James.

    Huh?

Harden has been with Morey and co. for all of their big free agent pitches.

I'd put Hayward as 90% on the Jazz next year, 5% on the Celtics, and 5% other.

Unfortunately for him, the problem with the Jazz is they're building their team in away that in today's NBA won't get them over the hump. They need either serious internal improvement, or the NBA landscape to change dramatically.

They're building a team that could have made many deep playoff runs a decade ago.

But they were last in the league in pace. Sure, 12th in ORtg, but at a dead last pace. They've become slightly above average at scoring the ball in a slowed down offensive scheme. Make them increase their pace and they can't hang - see this series 94,104, 91 and 95 point outbursts.

Hayward was amazing in the playoffs regardless, and it would be stupid for the Jazz to not chase him, but its a bit of a dilemma for Jazz fans. It's like the Raptors with Lowry. The Jazz are 2-3 years behind the Raptors... which means 2-3 years behind the realization that this core is nice, but limited.

The question for Hayward is when does he come to that realization and does he care?

Life is good for him... hence the 90% staying in Utah.

This next contract he signs will carry him through the prime of his career. I guess he could always take the money now and ring chase later, but he has to know that resigning with Utah makes it extremely unlikely he wins a title(or even competes for one) until his next contract comes along.
