The only time something "good" happens on a DP is if the tying or lead run scores. The vast majority of the time, that doesn't happen. Give me a strike out over a GIDP every time during the season, and the team will be more successful offensively.
That's what the numbers say. I've never delved deeper and it would be situation/batter-dependent: what % of his GBs are hits vs DPs or FCs? Who is batting next? 2nd or 3rd out? etc....
I posted that stat after his last start: I said 50% because I didn't exclude line drives from fly balls. That's really ****ing hard to do, unless you're throwing BP. At least it looks like there's not much wind today.
