If the refs swallow their whistles again in game four and our three point shooters are brick layers again, then MDA needs a plan B in place. If we can't get to the basket and the threes aren't falling, we need to start taking some mid range shots. I know that is not "Moreyball" but if the refs will not call obvious fouls and the long ball is off we have no choice.
People are rolling their eyes at this thread but it's totally true. Pop is making our whole offensive philosophy look really, really dumb. I was never in favor of the layup and 3's only BS.
DD, the reason we overpaid is because the NBA is a business. they very well knew that we wouldn't be a contender with him or that he was worth 20 million dollars. however, it makes harden happy and look better than he does in the regular season, because teams aren't going all out to play defense. this team was designed to get us to the second round. But if we can add another all-star, and les actually pays the luxury tax to get him, anderson would still be i don't think pop has exposed anything. The NBA is a business. I don't think they expected the rockets to get past the second round of the playoffs. its only the young fans who actually look at the stats, and the soft defense played during the regular season who actually think this is going to translate to the post season. i think morey has done a fine job. he made les a lot of money getting us into the second round, and we will be in a good position to draw another all-star in the off-season. i think this was his plan.
Being happy with the Rockets making it to the second round of the playoffs is like being happy that we got a participation trophy.
D'Antoni's been in the playoffs his share of times. Beverley and Capela have been to the conference finals. Anderson went to the finals back in Orlando (? or am I misremembering). Nene actually went to the conference finals back in '09 with #2 seed Denver. And Corey Brewer ----- oh, wait. But anyway, I don't think experience is what's hurting us in this case. 1. This team has the legs, the depth, and the strategy to be running circles around the Spurs and tiring them out. Outside of game 1, we haven't done that. The Spurs 100% dictated the pace. They want mucky, dirty, 15 point quarters. We want speedy 30 point quarters. We have to find a way to force our pace a little more. 2. Pau Gasol and L Aldridge should be getting absolutely murdered on the pick-n-rolls, reminiscent of the 2015 Mavs series with Smith and Howard. 3. Popovich isn't afraid to tap deeper into his bench when needed. Simmons has made some big plays. But unfortunately D'Antoni won't even toss Troy or Dekker out there for a couple first half minutes when Anderson is playing like Hasheem Thabeet.
The biggest red flag I see is that D'Antoni's answer to everything: we gotta shoot better. I have personal issues with reducing the entire game of basketball to shooting percentage, for the entire league, the stat geeks, but when that's not working, and you don't have anything else: what then?
Relax people. Our 1st season with MDA and the acquired FA's and we are playing in the 2nd RD. We are not a "super" team but so far the output of this squad has more than surpassed its expectations . We have to play as a unit and our style. I believe we can pull a string of great performances and force a game 7:
I do, too. In sports, I don't feel right endorsing one single philosophy at the expense of everything else. Flexibility is a virtue.
Our offense does not need fixing, our defense needs fixing. Clog the middle, let them shoot 3s. Spurs are winning now because they are insiding, instead of outsiding. NBA percentage shows you have a high percentage of shooting in the paint than outside. They took advantage of our size, Nene, or some big body and Capela should be out on the floor. Capela, or Nene the lone big men in the middle ain't going to cut it with the Spurs, we need another big body to pair with Capela or Nene who can rebound. If you have Harden switched with Khwai, Spurs would probaly be 3-0. Our defense is exposed more than our offense.
Do we really think a guy that shot 40% from the field and <25% from 3 is the answer? Do we REALLY think a freaking guy that couldn't consistently get minutes on a bottom 10 team is the answer?? That may be the single dumbest thing I've ever heard. My goodness. Since he loves complaining about the Rockets decision making and coaching can we ban him for the rest of the Playoffs after we finish beating the Spurs?
Is this new to you guys? Pop destroyed D'Antoni when he had a much more elite and stacked Suns team. I've been saying all year that D'Antoni gets wrecked in the playoffs. I'm sure we'll have another hot shooting game where this will be quoted and people will laugh because we live in the moment, but the much bigger picture is that D'Antoni is just a fun regular season coach and that's all Les was even looking for(to put butts in the seats and make watching the Rockets fun again as compared to last years misery while ensuring were good enough to make the playoffs every year). Were not contenders. Neither are the Spurs. Warriors and Cavs. That's all there is and that's all the NBA wants.
DMo shoots mid-range and post ups but we don't believe in those shots, even though that's exactly how the Spurs kicked our asses
spurs played diciplined defense especially when harden tried to draw those weak hook fouls and running the rockets off the 3pt line. gasol with his hands up guards the run easily and LMA woke up last night. rockets have to change some phase of the offense for tomorrow's game or they will lose
Lol go out and get laid Pathetic a grown man is being a crybaby b**** over something he cant control. Where FTW Rocket.. biggest b****
