I would agree. I posted this on the recent game thread: Forget the fines. I think the NBA needs to impose a new review for flops. They have that Replay Center at the ready all game for tech reviews and such and it doesn't have to disrupt the flow of the game. Much like reviewing a 3 pt attempts 'in play'. My proposal would be that if a whistle is blown on an embellished play like that (Patty Mills), play resumes as usual. In the meantime, the Replay Center can review the play closely while the game continues. If it is determined to be an OBVIOUS 'attempt to deceive the referees' then punishment is awarded at the next time out or game stoppage. Much like revising score after reviewing 3 pt attempts. If a defender flopped (Patty Mills/Ginobli) and possession was taken away from the offense, then 2 pts are automatically awarded to the opposing team and the player receives a foul for their deception and foul erased from player who was victimized If the offensive player flops and receives FT's, then any points awarded are taken away and a foul given. Defender also has phantom foul erased These types of penalties would eliminate flopping right away, right Manu? Patty? And would only apply if the whistle was blown and the call changed possession or awarded FT's Even if game clock runs out and game over, flops near end of play should be reviewed and score changes made if necessary. Do you think a defender (Andre Kerilinko) would flop at the end of a game if he knew it would automatically award 2pts to the opposing team? NOT. Flop problem solved
Get ready to see a lot more flopping guys! With Parker out for the rest of the playoffs I can only see Mills and Ginobli getting his chunk of the minutes at PG. If you're going to flop and embellish the contact you should at least make it more natural and go the right direction...
I am glad the flop happened in game two, TP went down and Mills will play more. Refs have to pay more attention to his flops, right? right? right!
Sure they would exist. They just had to change the way they play, just like plenty of other players would if the league cracked down on flopping. Players adjust to how the game is called. Smart players use the loopholes to as far as they can until the rules are changed. Traveling, carrying, moving screen, etc. these are things that have been discussed for years. Players would change how they play if they changed how they called them.
So, besides that it's obvious.... ...and aside from Reggie millers stupid ass saying it's a hooking foul... What really gets me is that if harden is superhuman strong and hooks his right arm around mills' right side for leverage...follow me still....when harden "pushes" off and commits this "foul" shouldn't mills' altered momentum carry him either to his left or some combination with forward? Like, as in the direction he's been "pushed"? Because he falls to his right. Harden is strong but he's not magnetic. That's the most egregious flop I've seen probably all year. Didn't Wes Matthews have a crazy one too?
He really does - I'm shocked how often they let him get away with his hooks and blatantly changing pivot feet.
The only thing that bothered me watching that video was the Spurs PA douche..."SPURS BALL" I'd like to decapitate that guy
Why aren´t you commenting on Manu failed attempt to flop on the play RIGHT AFTER this fantastic call?
That's not what Miller said. He asked if it was a hook and then said "C'mon man" in reference to the obvious flop.
Flops have always been there and they'll always be, but one thing is too emphasize a contact, one thing is to totally make it up from nothing like this It's ****ing disgusting that a ref whistle bs like this (like in Mills case), that piece of **** (and i mean the ref) should be at least suspended.
