Yep, and the Texans could have as much as $50MM in cap space once they roll over this year's. That takes a lot of the sting out of not having your top 2 picks.

They'll have incredible flexibility going forward with almost no money being spent at QB (assuming Watson is the guy). Will be able to extend Hopkins and Clowney and still have ample room to fill needs.

Unless..... Savage is the guy - his deal is up after this year, right?

The Titans have had a very good off season.

There offensive line was already possibly the second best in football.

If Mariota improves, I can see them taking a real step forward.

They added some elite special teams players this off season and they obviously added receivers through the draft (although I question relying on rookie receivers).

Yes it is. But I would expect a tag and trade if he performs well this year. I'm a big Watson believer and think he'll be the guy.

Right. Change the name to Jaguars, QB to Bortles and offensive line and the same thing has been said the past couple of years. I'll believe it when I see it. The Texans also should improve in their running game and quarterback play and their front seven SHOULD be better with Watt and Watkins. The Titans secondary is still pretty bad. I still like the Texans chances to win the division.

At first time ever, I like this team better than the Rockets.

People are also conviently forgetting about coaching staff, which are responsible for game planning, cuts, roster moves (sometimes), play calling, etc.
Coaching staff plays a large part in things.

I like the Texans over any other team in the division when coaching staff are figured in.

Are we going to do anything to address the depth at DE? I mean I think they will put Clowney there a lot next year like they did last season but behind him and JJ are we relying on Antonio Smith? I'm interested in that battle in training camp we need another guy to step up.

Reader and Watkins can both play 3-4 end along with Covington, Kamalu, and Heath. The base defense will probably have Reader at NT with Watt and Heath at the ends and Mercilus and Clowney at OLB. Scarlett will be the 3rd OLB. Then on passing downs you'll have a four man of Mercilus, Watt, Clowney, and Reader/Covington/Watkins/Heath. Antonio Smith will probably retire. He was only brought in last year because Watt got hurt. He was on the couch before that.

    They drafted Watkins.

When they are playing 3-4 they have (assuming health) Watkins, Watt, Covington, Kamalu and Joel Heath to compete for spots with Reader at the nose. Not to mention Clowney.

I don't know what you want them to do?

That's a damn shame but it makes sense, he was a guy who was going to be on the bubble due to not having the athleticism you want in the NFL at linebacker. He's got the mental part of the game down.

    Oh well.

I don't know if I should be reassured by that crop or not lol I like the possibilities with Covington and Heath but I'm not confident in them to be anything above replacement level... But hopefully one of those guys can make a leap

Titans were better than us last year and would likely have won the division if mariota didn't get hurt

I don't know about that. When Mariota got hurt, the Titans were losing to the Jags already. The score was 25-10. I don't think they were going to come back from that deficit in the 3rd quarter.
