Another guy I think might draw some interest from teams is Gerritt Cole. Especially if the Pirates find themselves well outside of contention by mid summer I could see them looking at moving Cole and trying to acquire some good prospects. He's having a great year and I think would make for an excellent number 2/3 pitcher.
$60 and I have sat in sec 106 and 109 so far, up close for 2 really good games. I think they have already paid off lol
Guys, don't hate on Gregerson, don't you see? It was all on purpose. He wanted to beat them in a 1 run game for fun like they did to us all last year.
I've been as pissed as anyone about Fiers, but he is still pretty much the best person to chew up innings and save the pen out of the #5 position. The pen is holding up McCullers, Morton and Musgrove. There is a huge lack of SP depth because of injuries (McHugh, Paulino, Rodgers) and underperformance (Martes). I seriously doubt Luhnow or Hinch is happy with Fiers but I bet they choose to let it ride. He still ended up going 6 innings and striking out 9.
I put the over/under at 2.5 games. I can see teams' reluctance to remove him as it is hard to find starters. Strikeouts are nice, but homers are not. It does not look fluky either as he has given up a lot of hard contact according to my eye ball test that weren't homers. If he doesn't have at least 1 decent start in next two games, I don't think team can keep him in there. If in next start he has another HR-heavy start, I think he is removed from rotation, then.
I'm just reading about that ballpark pass now. I wonder if they'll continue doing that once summer starts and kids are out of school. That's a really, really good deal.
Rangers fans are some of the most obnoxious d-bags I've ever seen visit Minute Maid. Even the Cubs fans from the NL Central days weren't as bad. After the Marwin slam, one of them nearby starting shouting "f*** you!" and flipping double birds to all of the Astros folks around him (including kids). After the game, I saw at least two Rangers fans try to instigate confrontations with Astros fans out on the street. If you are attending a game in an opponent's home ballpark, just wear your gear and cheer for your team, but otherwise shut the hell up and don't antagonize all of the people around you.
I was in the Crawford boxes and a chick dropped her phone onto the field. DeShields actually came over and threw the phone back at the chick from left field, which was pretty cool of him. Did that get on TV at all? It was early in the inning, I forget which inning.
Fiers has absolutely zero upside. He is who he is... and that's slowly getting worse (in terms of allowing hard contact/HR's). I would really like to see them stretch out Feliz. There's enough bullpen depth to allow him to get a crack.
He's averaging 5 innings a start. Mike Fiers has allowed 24 fly balls this season. 12 of those have left the yard. Hitters are 1-22 with RISP against Mike Fiers. (0-7 with 2 outs). Leadoff hitters in an inning are 9-22 with 7 bombs and 4 BBs against Mike Fiers. I cannot explain Mike Fiers. How are these things humanly possible?
They'd basically have to tandem Feliz and Peacock to start off. Not opposed to the idea, but a few rough starts in the rotation and the bullpen is zapped.
Report them especially with kids around. Less of them at stadium and more of us. One of the first trade deadline move will be getting a top-line pitcher with Keuchel.
Feliz certainly has a higher ceiling than either Fiers or Peacock. They could even send Feliz down to AAA to get some starts under his belt. The entire bullpen, other than Devo, has gotten such sporadic work that there's some inconsistency coming forth. Sipp needs to be better. Then you add him to Hoyt, Harris, Gregerson, Giles... with Devo as the anchor, and that's a pretty deep bullpen without considering Feliz/Peacock (or Fiers, for that matter).
