Fiers is going to need to do better to avoid the long-ball... and I'd be even more leery of him coming out of the pen with that propensity.
He might have to take the current Feliz role, with Harris/Feliz splitting Peacock's work (and Peacock to the rotation)
Harris? He's the 7th inning guy, 8th when Greg can't go or Devo's not already dealing, that won't change. eta: (I'm rewatching the last 3 innings) speaking of random relievers...Hoyt brought it strong, he had those assholes bamboozled
I take it all back. Correa's AB in the 8th was just pathetic, the pitch he K'd on bounced a foot in front of the plate.
At this point I'm not even mad at him because the team is still winning. Let's just hope he can find his swing soon because if he does then we become super dangerous. Oh, and at least he's not as bad as Odor. So, yeah there's that.
Feliz still has hit/miss stuff. He still ranks above Peacock. The entire pen, except Devo, is suffering from inconsistent work in their usual roles (thanks mostly to Devo being able to pitch multiple high leverage innings). I suppose that's a great problem to have. I just don't like Fiers control nor his tendencies to give up a HR. That's disaster from any bullpen pitcher. Over a 5-6 inning appearance, it's palatable... but unless he has a short inning extra gear we don't know about, he's going to find himself relegated to mop-up/emergency starter duty only (which isn't the best use of a roster spot).
Hinch (and I suppose the front office) clearly sees that "change" that happens, where his head gets in the way simply due to it being a save situation. Decent job by Hinch in getting him out of there the second he gave up a hit (runs).
It's obvious they'll need to pull the trigger at some point and make a trade for another frontline starter (if possible). It will be interesting to see what they do.
I was there with a Rangers fan coworker. The place went crazy on that grand slam! Such a great game!!!
Would love a sweep here. With Morton and Musgrove going at home, we have a decent shot. This team is starting to flip the narrative a bit against Fort Worth.
He's looked shaky the last couple of times out. Looks like he's having trouble spotting his fast ball and started aiming...which never ends well. Fiers needs to be removed from the rotation soon. Can't always plan on the ability to come back from 5 down.
