I know small sample sizes are small sample sizes, but what is it that Luhnow and Hinch see that makes them feel comfortable sending Fiers out every five days. I can't believe that his teammates have any faith in him at this point.
We need to set it up for spot starts until McHugh finally returns. He gives up way too many of these.
It really burns me to see one of our first round picks playing for our biggest rival. (And playing well). Big time fail on Astros management to leave Deshields unprotected. If we were gonna lose him we should have at least got something for him.
Good grief making Claudio the emergency starter out of the bull pen look amazing so far. Seems like we give up early runs and have to come back too often.
Deshields really hasn't turned into anything special. He wouldn't be a starter for us if we had kept him.
Hasn't been a big loss. DDJ put up a whopping 55 WRC+ last year and entering this game was 91 WRC+ on the season. No one was gonna give anything of consequence up for him because his expected outcome was 4th outfielder (still is). He's got upside but he's probably never going to hit enough have his other tools play up (speed, small amount of pop).
Ranger's starter averaging 10 pitches/inning *edit- until Jake's hit Let's do something here, Springs.
I agree. But he's put up better numbers for a lot less salary than someone like Dexter Fowler, who lots of folks on here were slobbering all over a few years ago. I am convinced that Fowler has the best agent in baseball. That guy has made so much money but is the definition of mediocrity.
