You're pretty predictable. You remind me of that kid who was picked on in grade school who still has not gotten over it as an adult. While most have grown up and moved on, you still resort to childish trolling mannerisms. Have you considered law enforcement as a career option?

Wow... it must really get under your skin, getting called out for voting for Trump. I just can't understand why you feel the need to say you didn't vote for him, even though you defend every criticism of him. We don't really know you, so don't know why you feel the need to convince us otherwise.

But sure... complain about predictability and childishness of others, all the while you childishly resort to name calling and personal attacks. Its about as hypocritical as the rest of your posting style...

LOL, no worries, easy enough to mix the names. It would be funny if they were related. I give Jeffrey Lord credit... he was right on election night that his candidate had more support than the others on the panel. Though his recent "A" grade for Trump was a "just a bit outside..."

Listen, Its obvious I hurt your feelings. I am sorry if I did. I am even extending an olive branch...

Why do we need pointy-headed professors' take on history when we have random blog posts and anonymous internet posters who can set us straight about what Trump really meant. :)

Actually, the Andrew Johnson theory is pretty interesting, but the bottom line is this: according to nearly all historians, the Civil War was at its root a big, bloody, horrible act of emancipation. If in any way shape or form Trump is saying the U.S. should have compromised on complete emancipation of slaves... I just... don't even. I do hope he means that maybe a great "deal maker" could have convinced plantation tycoons to completely give up their way of life. And yes, if that could have happened, many many lives would have been saved.

You know what else Andrew Jackson was against? He was against the Bowling Green Massacre. He absolutely hated it. I mean the guy was a swashbuckler but after his wife died, it really caused him to hate things like the Bowling Green Massacre.

Here is a black Democrat in myself who doesn't think Trump is racist

When he talks about black problems he is honest

Don't know and do not care rabout his obsession with Andrew Jackson

Jackson was a great president. I know at different points in his life he was the largest slave owner

    It doesn't matter now

When Trump talks about Chicago violence it needs to be talked about

Space Ghost and the band of Trump apologists always at the ready to explain what Trump really meant despite what he actually said.

Maybe Trump needs a translator to take his scatterbrained, new immigrant English into coherent sentences so the educated can understand him.

Is there any difference between Trump's comments and the seventh-grader who didn't do the readings the night before, but still tries to BS his way through a presentation?

To think, some people used to call President Bush stupid. In hindsight, the man just didn't have a way with words and was a voracious reader. President Trump is babbling moron who couldn't tell you how many presidencies there were between Andrew Jackson and the beginning of the Civil War itself.

We all know what Trump was referring to. Your interesting defense is no defense, and you know it. Well, I hope you do know it.

    I agree with this.

I knew what Trump was trying to say.

He is ignorant for being President of the United States, but I am not going to beat him up over this because it is just a distraction.

I also am not going to beat Trump up for standing up for Andrew Jackson. I think Andrew Jackson is one of the 5 most important and influential President's in American history and was the architect of the Democrat Party for 100 years and was a populist.

    Trump is ignorant.

However there was a belief at the time, and one still held by some people that a gradual ending of slavery and emancipation would have been possible.

There is this foolish notion that it was simply North against South when it was far more nuanced than that. There were many people in the South that thought slavery was immoral and there were many people in the North that felt that owning another human being should be legal.

Most definitely true, and my reading of the work of real historians seems to make that clear from the start.

I guess we're not just post-fact though, as a culture. We seem post-discussion too. Especially with a tweeter-in-chief, but he's ultimately more symptom than cause, right? Probably a total coincidence that crap like this is happening at the same time Adam Jones gets the worst racial heckling of his career. Long sigh.
