Tim Pool is legend. This journalist is one of the best independent journalists around and practices actual on the ground journalism and fact checks what he talks about. He is also young, so he is tech savvy and involved in using new media to tell his story. Pool recently discussed how 4chan has been playing everyone for a fool in the modern political atmosphere.

TL;DR - 4chan decided to make people think the OK hand sign is racist. "Journalists" and media personalities took the bait and are claiming the OK hand sign means white power.

Yes... the one time I even heard about this 'okay symbol' bs and the outrage that came along with it was from a conservative blog bashing liberals.

Just another attempt from the right wing in trying to create a faux outrage narrative from the left based on some tumbler blogs and tweets with a couple of left wing 'news sites'.

People do have too much time on their hands. They value the opinion of strangers' tweets as some systemic issue.

If this didn't even hit the top of r/politics subreddit for outrage, then I can bet your ass hardly any MSM media covered this beyond one article that wasn't even on their front page.

Your outrage over the false outrage is completely manufactured. Deal with it. Stop listening to clowns with a youtube channel as some 'investigative journalist'. You believing that this guy is an actual investigative journalist is actual mental gymnastics.

Stop falling for social media drama click-bait. That's what I assume teenagers do.

Yeah, never heard of this. I wish large swaths of our species could find better, more productive, more constructive uses of their time.
But I guess that's just "mental gymnastics" on my part.

But congrats to 4chan trolls doing what I guess they do. Keep on truckin, y'all.

Unfortunately, our youth is turning into a bunch of fools who value social media drama as their form of entertainment. It's the new reality tv phenomenon but only a lot worse.

This wasn't some tumblrina claiming the OK symbol was problematic. This was recognized journalists and news sites calling it "making white supremacist hand signs".

Yes it was. You linking me one article from the back pages of a MSM site isn't evidence of mass outrage.

It's evident in the fact that the first time I heard this was a post on reddit exactly stating that the right is trying to create a false outrage narrative. If it was as prevelant as you say it was in the MSM then of course us liberal fools who watch MSM 24/7 would have been informed about it through their channels rather than some reddit post informing that it's nothing based on false outrage from onsies and twosies left wing blogs.

As funny as this is, I don't think it's duped a lot of people, yet. Sure, you got that MSNBC reporter retweeting it, but that's also MSNBC. They don't have much journalistic integrity.

I do hope it catches on, though. It's funny to see people get trolled. It happened with Pepe. It could happen again with this.

I haven't seen anything from MSNBC either in my search.

I don't think it'll dupe many at all till the end of time.

I think that's the point. It hasn't reached people because people aren't that stupid. It's reached the main stream news and they are running away with it before stopping to think that this is an everyday hand sign.

    I saw this tweet.

But turns out she's just a correspondent on the big news channels, not a full time anchor. My mistake.

But has it really? I don't think so. Not many main stream media sites are reporting this other than a journalist here and there.

If you've ever looked at 4chan, you'll notice it is a lot of boys getting thrills about typing "ni**er" as a sign of intellectual liberation while jacking off to gore pics. Well, maybe they are representative after all. . . .
