Keuchel becomes the 2nd pitcher in franchise history to go 5-0 in April.

The first guy, you can "mis-remember".

    Absolutely.

That team only won 86 games.... had Chris Carter in the heart of the lineup... had a bullpen that didn't miss many bats.... and mainly featured a group of young guys with little experience and very little expectation to start winning at that point.

They did get off to a great 17-7 start.... and peaked at 48-34 (coinciding with Springer's injury). The current nucleus is a perfect mix of young and veterans... and there's a full emphasis on winning now.

It was worth it. When we committed to sucking I knew we would be okay in the long run. It is risky tho. Look at the Pirates and Reds for examples. Straight mediocre for as long as I can remember

Reds made the playoffs in 2010, 2012, 2013. That's more over the last 7 seasons than the Red Sox and Mets, same as the Nationals and only 1 less than the Yanks/Giants/Dodgers.

My thought is that Hinch may have wanted to experiment with a 7-1 lead to see what he could get out of Peacock after pitching the night before.
