Peyton Manning ala Denver ran some amazing offenses with a noodle arm. Timing and accuracy is more important. From what I have seen, Watson has both.
Go back and read what I said. Did I say accuracy couldn't be improved? No. I stated that accuracy can't be significantly improved. I also stated that Watson IS accurate.
If McClain is right for once, the plan is for Watson not to play a single snap this season. Lance z even wondered whether they'll make him 3rd string with weeden as the backup. Will be really tough to go into next year without a first round pick and no basis for evaluation of Watson lol. Tough for us as fans I mean
He's a free agent after the year so that won't really help us. Savage playing average to above average but not great would actually put us in a really tough spot. Makes it tough to transition to Watson and means you have to make a tough free agency decision about him. If plays well enough to keep the job and stays healthy he isn't signing again on a team friendly deal. That almost makes it hurt more than you used two first round picks on Watson next year if you are now keeping savage! These things normally work themselves out though
You can be sure that it'll cause a QB controversy and that fans will be booing Savage almost from the beginning unless the team gets out to a stellar record from the jump.
A bigger, weaker-armed Wilson I mainly sais Russell because an analyst said DeShaun uses his legs well to extend passing plays, not just taking off and running. Plus their leadership, work ethic, etc.
Savage is a career backup, he showed that with his play last season and with the fact he was the first one to call Watson after he was selected, no killer instinct. I feel there's a chance Watson overwhelmingly impressess camp and with his obsessive preparation and is the day one starter
It would not surprise me. Savage has a great name and very good skills, but his personality is blah. Watson seems like a nice guy, BUT on the field, he is an assassin, no mercy, no prisoners. He doesn't come to fit in, but to take over. Whether or not his "skills" translates to the NFL is in question, but his determination will.
Lance Z on Friday kept comparing the situation to David Carr and saying Watson should be benched because "look what happened to Carr". I thought that was pretty idiotic. For one, Watson isn't joining an expansion team like Carr. Further, when Carr came into the league 15 years ago, it was more common for QBs to sit and learn before playing. That's not the case anymore, and Watson is more experienced/NFL ready than any QB taken in the draft.
Would need an additional year on Savage's deal. Suppose we could franchise him in the very unlikely event that he balls out.
"Have you seen the body on vince young?" "He's going to win multiple superbowls in this league." "Vince young heals people" some of my favorite lines, the first 2 from radio foosball experts, third one by caller.
