Decent jokes on the Administration first half, but also nothing SNL, Daily Show and etc. haven't done before.
But the second half, he went in on the media as well as explaining what it's like to be a minority. It was pretty great.

I thought it was pretty boring. Like you said, satire about Trump and Fox News/MSNBC/CNN is pretty standard these days.

There weren't many particularly sharp remarks that had the crowded muttering like there were in years past, but that could also be because the target of the jokes wasn't physically in the room.

I really haven't seen many people go in towards media, how explaining they're part of the problem and why they lack credibility these days. It was a real "fair and balanced" roast. Also, as a minority immigrant that grew up here, his last piece was super relate-able to me.

I dunno. Just thought Cecily Strong, Joel Mchale and Seth Meyers did better jobs. This years was like an extended daily show correspondents monologue.

    This.

Not a fan of his delivery, talks a bit too fast like he's nervous. However his segment on the media was well constructed and poignant.

I agree. They killed their set. I don't know I always liked Hasan stand up and his comedy style. He's great on the daily show.

At least he seemed a bit more sincere than a lot of these types of things end up being.

MY GOD he is such a crappy comedian. He is so hungry for people to laugh and to accept him. Even his opening jokes are duds because he lacks the natural timing of the greats. I love how he waits for laughter on his first joke and there is a small trickle. Then he makes a crappy Muslim joke and you can sense the activist reporters in the room wondering first if its bigoted to laugh. The guy's timing is like watching Jeb Bush ask the audience to clap.

I will give him credit for the USA Today joke. On point. It's a coupon section. Excellent joke.

But for the record this commedian is not an immigrant like he claims to be. He was born in Cali.

I see, maybe it's a play on the perpetual foreigner stereotype Asians get...

But likely it was for laughs. He should've just said minority.

It was for laughs. But he's so American. You can tell by his accent that he's been around native speakers almost his entire life (I don't know his background fully, but his accent gave it away is all I'm saying). He's comparing himself to real immigrants who get jobs that are unimaginably worse than hosting a black and white affair. He should have said minority, I guess. Or just make a better joke. I get it though, take a dump on the media. Who doesn't these days?

Also it doesn't really matter. I am being a snob at this point about his jokes. Continue on if you enjoy it. It's not my job to dictate if its funny or not, so I am happy some people here enjoyed it.

Bill Hicks, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Mitch Hedberg, Jerry Seinfeld before he gave up on life, Dave Chappelle before he went crazy, Andy Kaufman, young Eddie Murphy, early Stephen Colbert, early Amy Poehler, and Chris Rock. Actually yeah most comedians before they get rich or crazy are pretty awesome. This cat is young and needs better timing... He did have some good jokes though. He has potential. I just didn't find his jokes to be well written. Again though, maybe he was on a deadline and busy because he's doing a lot, but still not anything like the time Colbert went up there and redefined what it meant to host one of those.

Truth is as he said nobody really wanted this gig, problem is the jokes have mostly been played out...there was no win other than getting your name out there. He did the right thing, he played it safe, which is probably the smart choice.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Just because your parents are immigrants, that doesn't make you an immigrant. For the sake of a joke, comedians are allowed to stretch the truth a bit.
