When did I say that? Kemp is one of the best runners on the team. We should have taken a pitch and tried to get a base with him in that instance because it was worth the gamble. Most of the time when we try to steal it's not necessary and we lose runs or outs because of it. Or, we get hits and try to get extra bases when it's not necessary and get thrown out for it. Comon Buck, you've watched the games. The base running has been quite dreadful both in terms of when we choose to gamble and in terms of when we don't.
When's the last time we've been swept? Glad Musgrove pitched well. Bats hit a snag, but they'll be back. Win the series tomorrow.
Yeah his agent should throw in the towel on the kid who put up 2 of the best first seasons in franchise history. He's scuffling but I'm still betting big on myself if I'm Carlos.
you can tell this is a bball forum the way people give up on the franchise guy after a bad month or so. These same people will defend Harden at all costs, regardless of what he does or doesn't do.
Harden has gotten routinely destroyed in the GARM. Far worse than anything Correa has seen. Probably less this year for obvious reasons. But that aside, you're right, too many people are surprisingly big picture down on Correa. He needs to get that RISP production going like yesterday but the dude is just too smart and talented to not feel real good about for the future. Baseball is not a sport for reactionary posts.
Fans are reactionary, regardless of the sport. That said, the Correa criticism I see is mostly that. I think folks just want Correa to get his head strait and start producing like he is capable of. Anyone insinuating his career is doomed is being silly. Even when such is said or implied, its just fan frustration, nothing serious. He would have to look very average (or below) for a couple years in a row to make serious assertions about his future. I do believe strongly that where he bats should be looked at.
So when do they start giving Davis the Cano treatment?after the 20th homer versus us by the start of next year.
Based on the fact that he's stolen over 100 bases in his short career and has great speed. I mean, did I really need to answer this question or are you just nitpicking my post here?
He's stolen 2 bases in the majors. He's played about 1/3 of a full season worth of games, and maybe 1/4 or so worth of plate appearances (which wouldn't account for PR opportunity, like last night). On either basis, he hasn't shown a great propensity to successfully steal bases at this level. George Springer stole 40+ a year in the minors, and has been terrible at stealing bases in the majors. It's a different game.
Just because he stole a lot of bases in the minors doesn't necessarily mean that he's going to do the exact same thing in the majors.
See, you're just attacking me and not the content of my original post. You should read better because I never claimed Kemp was the best base runner or an all world athlete. But, he is one of the better base runners on our team which is all I claimed he was. Stop hating for no reason.
His base running abilities have yet to translate at the big league level. With one of the hottest hitters in baseball batting, do you really want to risk losing a base runner who has attempted less than 5 stolen basis in the majors?
After yesterday's game, all is lost and Astros should just cut him before they do something stupid like extend him.
