Wasn't game 5 Bill's last game ever? Sorry if I missed any thread about this. Unless I turned it off too early, it seems there was no acknowledgement of this whatsoever? Was there some sort of an on air well deserved tribute and I just missed it?
I dont think he retired yet, just reduced the workload for the soon to be retirement. There's no way they don't have some kind of celebratory exit for him.
I was under the impression he was returning next season. Maybe the great year they had changed his mind. I can't blame him for wanting to retire after last season and how dreadful it was.
At the very end of their broadcast on Wednesday, when Bill signed off with Drexler and Bullard, he said "we'll see you next season."
I don't think Bill is leaving. He will probably only do home games though, no road games anymore. Understandably so though, he's getting up there and that travel has got to be rough.
I want Calvin Murphy back as the announcer, he makes the games fun to watch. I don't like Matt Bullard and I can not stand him. What can we do to bring Calvin Murphy back?
looked this up last night. Given the scaled down schedule, he has no immediate plans to retire. Looks like cyber's sources were wrong, or changed their mind at a minimum.
No. Jeff interviewed him, and he said he was not retiring, yet. Continuing on with his lighter schedule. Here's the thread with link to article Sources (Jeff Balke): Worrell NOT being pushed out by Rockets organization
Next season, health permitting, the Rockets should schedule several home games with Calvin Murphy doing color with Bill. With Calvin next to him, Bill has energy and sounds 20 years younger.
