I am irrationally hyped about Carlos Watkins. More hyped than I was about Reader, and I was pumped about that pick last year. Davenport was a "meh" pick to me considering he has little chance to make an impact right away, but Watkins man. Interior of this line just got a lot better. Texans can have a mean rotation all over that d-line. Can move Watt/Clowney anywhere, Rotate Reader/Watkins, or play them both inside, Whitney doing things, Got 3 ILB that show the ability to have a little pass rush. Maybe Covington, Heath, and Kamalu show some improvement to help out in rotations. Damn dude, I can't wait to see what alignments Vrabel/RAC come up with.
I'm the exact opposite. I don't like this pick mostly because of who was available. I felt similarly about last year's fourth, Tyler Ervin.
Now I have no idea who they will pick. This is the part of the draft where I'm totally lost. Will they dare pick another QB? Peterman and Kaaya still on the board.
Locked down? The only player with his spot on lock is big bad Duane brown. And he's old, nearing the finish line of his career. Has XSF truly made himself a starter by merit? Or just being a healthy body? Martin penciled in right, but we'll save the ink for guys who have made it to the field once. Jeff fuggin Allen? Get out. That guy was two things. Fat and awful. Derek newton is done. Clark was no better than the guy who mayock just said needed 2 years. We banking on dQ or something? This team needs a little more help up front.
Between Nick Martin, Greg Mancz, Jeff Allen, and XSF, there isn't a starting Guard or Center job available. On top of that Duane Brown is the LT, so honestly the only starting job available was RT. That job is still available because the Texans went in a different direction this draft but they got a good raw prospect who could factor in before long.
Yeah we're not gonna agree on OL talent I see...Duane brown is the only name written in ink, I don't see how anyone else deserves that.
Fair enough, we probably won't agree, but we'll see how it plays out. I'm fairly sure that what I suggested is how it's going to be. I was wrong once though. It was a Tuesday.
I would really like to see them get a defensive back for depth purposes, but they'll still have to address that area in free agency. I wouldn't mind them going Peterman here though just to hedge their bets at QB.
