Sure, Watson has a few weaknesses...but he strikes me as a legit, confident LEADER. And he seems to have that "it" factor. Now the Texans need to improve the OL.
The overall cost to get here is high(factoring in the Oz trade) but at the end of the day the Texans needed a qb and they went and got one. I doubt he starts the season starting but I bet he doesn't sit long. And as others have said he knows how to win against elite talent. But if we don't shore up the OL it doesn't matter who's back there at QB
If Watson works out and is a great QB . . . people will talk about how OBrien made the pick and was working hard to get this done while Rick was stealing his thunder taking photo ops. If Watson does not work out . . . .People will talk about how OBrien never wanted the pick and Rick Picked him anyway and doesn't know football and should leave football decisions to football people Reality is. . . another year we still don't know who does what Rocket River
I love the pick. He was my QB going into the draft. I love big game players. He does have to get better at decision making, but he has the tools and talent to be great.
Anyone against the OZ Trade? I don't think it is fair to tie these two together unless you think it was a WINK WINK deal from the start Rocket River
[Premium Post] Exactly right. Dak was Dak because the Cowboys have the best Oline in the league. The Texans line, particularly the right side, is beneath my minimum acceptable standards. GOOD DAY
I think Watson's game will be better suited for the NFL plus the Chiefs gave up a crap ton to get him
Nope but O'Brien will be gone and we will have a new coach with no qb but Rick will still be grinning it up.
The Texans is the No.1 spot for any QB to be drafted this year because the only guy you need to beat for the starting job is Nicolas Cage.
I'm good with the pick (and what they gave in order to move up). Kid is very poised and can extend plays with his feet. Seems to take it up a notch in big games as well. He's going to have to clean up some of the mental mistakes he makes (really bad passes that were picked off). With good coaching hopefully this improves.
Anyone who is really upset over this, just look at this way... Either Watson pans out and the Texans finally have a franchise QB, or he doesn't and Rick Smith probably loses his job in 2-3 years. I'd call that a win-win.
so apparently Watson was the number 1 ranked qb according to both nfl.com and espn scouts inc. mike mayock likened him to steve young, and daniel jeremiah likened watson to mariota.
If it would have been, he'd be on the Browns already. I think the Browns traded back with us so they can ship 25 and a second round pick for Jimmy. I'm calling it.
I was ecstatic after the Oz trade. Looking at the two trades separately, they're both great trades. Together it gets kind of steep. I'm still happy as a Texans fan rn. These moves are a sign that they're going for it
