Is everybody forgetting the fact that we were only up 2 and almost had the ball stolen by Russ with 7 secs left? D'antony still had 3 timouts left. Why the hell wouldnt he call one and draw up a designed inbound play to get Harden or Ego the ball, get fouled and shoot free throws, instead of running around in a chaotic mess. Everybody wants to give credit to him for hack a roberson but under the 2 min mark, he still couldve got hacked even without handling the ball but when setting screens for the ball handler. This was pointed out by JVG.
Well I wish we used the hacks earlier but it was at a good time! Second why does he keep trying to play Anderson? Capela I understand because we need length but put it in someone who can run like Harrell or Troy. And last we had 3 damn timeouts why did we not use them?!
We can all nit pick and point out mistakes MDA has made, but overall you have to admit he's been good for this team. Do you guys remember McHale? We would actually go into games knowing he would get outcoached.
I love seeing which CFers man up and admit they were wrong about the hiring of D'Antoni, Just like I admit I was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay wrong about the signing of Dwert.
I was one of the guys not happy with Mike as the new coach, mainly cause we had big defensive problems in this past years and i wanted (and tbh i still do) to see a more defensive minded team, but i never doubted for a second that D'Antoni would've been an upgrade over McHale which imo was always a bottom tier coach.
yeah.... Thats not really the point. 3 timouts. 7 secs. 2 point lead. Almost turned it over on their side of the court. Im not gonna argue the opinions on who you think the better coach is. Im just saying that Danotinio is not a good pressure/situational coach. I mean who doesnt call a timeout in that situation?
Up 3 games to 1. Seems to be doing a pretty good job so far. Even ugly wins are wins. JVG was a pretty good coach, maybe better at knowing when to take timeouts, but he's also a control freak. D'Antoni is almost the exact opposite. He empowers his players, especially the stars/leaders, so they have the freedom and confidence to play their way out of slumps. D'Antoni coaches hardest during practices then let's his players play during games. Not saying MDA is perfect, not even close, just saying he's the right coach for this team right now.
Well, of course. No one is going to argue that. I just want him to do better in high pressure situations to give the whole team a sense of calm and not be so chaotic.
Not a good matchup for Clint being a deer caught in the headlights but apparently an excellent matchup for Nene Jeesh
Nick Picking is all people do around here It is getting sickening . . . Not fans . .. more like People who Just look for problems and errors Rocket River
Think he got the most out of what amounts to bench/role players. Credit due. Smart enough to use Harden to double Westbrook. Credit due. Three point offense worked all season. Credit due. But ultimately he will be judged on if the offensive system can get past the Spurs, fair or unfair, that's where he will be judged. Not sure if I've seen playoff adjustments yet, but no need, we are in control. I don't think anyone will care if he loses to Golden St, but the series against the Spurs, god willing, will lay some groundwork on if he's ready to go next level.
Yeah, over the season MDA's subconsciously gained my trust to where I consider that he might know more than me and probably has good reasons for doing what he does. I'll actually give him the benefit of the doubt that KJ McDaniels can't play basketball or a Bev/Lou/Gordon/Harden/Nene lineup wouldn't work. Monumentally better than JB Bickerstaff.
The Rockets have won three of four games for a reason. Coach is playing Anderson because if he gets hot, the Rockets will be incredibly tough to beat. Anderson hitting would open things up so much more. The thing I've been most impressed with this series is the team stays the course, they do not get rattled. That includes letting Anderson get his reps to hopefully get out of this funk. If the Rockets shift gears and give up on their bread and butter, it's probably not going to end well.
Clint and Ariza are out of place in this series but Nene and Lou Williams have been revelations. Nene goes stronger to the basket than Howard ever did which I'm not certain says more about Nene....or Howard.
It's all matchups and 2-3 players look horrible in this series! I'm sure those same players would do a lot better against Mem/Sas but not against Okc.
Let's see if he changes the starting lineup, we've been getting off to such slow starts, maybe move ariza to pf and start gordan
