Westbrook can actually be a free agent next summer.

"The Thunder just completed a “renegotiate-and-extend” deal with their remaining franchise player, increasing his 2016-17 salary to $26.5 million while extending his contract through 2018-19. The final season has a player option, meaning Westbrook can become a free agent in either 2018 or 2019. If he becomes a free agent in 2018, he will be 29, likely still in his prime and have exactly 10 years in the league. Should he choose to re-sign with the Thunder, his contract could start at a projected $35.5 million and could total $204.1 million. If he waits until 2019, he could start at a projected $35.8 million and his contract could total nearly $206 million."

We don't need a player like Westbrook, nor should we want a player like him. We need a star SF or star PF. We need guys like George and Hayward like u mentioned.

Westbrook at SG is interesting, to say the least.

Star players love Harden, and they love D'Antoni. It's going to be a good situation to win and have fun for SOMEONE.

Klay would be an amazing fit. I wouldn't mind JJ Redick either.

But I just want to see what Clutchfans think about Westbrook combining forces with Harden even if it somehow doesn't make practical sense. Lebron and Wade did it, as @Mr. Clutch said. But he's right, Westbrook would have to dominate and handle the ball less, because I trust Harden more than Westbrook. Westbrook at SG, and keep Harden at PG?

But yes, personally, ideally I'd want and would love to have Paul George on the Rockets. That would be amazing.

I have said it before and I'll say it again: No team which features Russell Westbrook will EVER win a championship. The man just doesn't have what it takes between the ears. You all saw this yet again, in this most recent game. He is one of the most phenomenal athletes ever to play the game, but in games, and especially in clutch time, when the pressure is at its highest, he has the brain of a squirrel, and it will forever keep him from winning the whole thing.

Unless he undergoes some kind of transformation like Dream did in the early 90's, in which case, all bets are off.

But I think by this point we all know what Russell is.

He was 1 minute from going to the finals to play the Cavs, where I think they had a huge advantage. That's pretty damn close.

And that's also when he was his team's 3rd best player.

    This idea sucks big time.

"Well if Melo has fundamentally changed everything about him and kept all of bball ability..."

    Hell no to Carmelo.

Aging chucker on a massive contract who is a selfish ball stopper... hard hard pass.

Harden and Westbrook together would be a train wreck. Kudos to OKC for seeing this a long time ago. But they chose wrong.

Or maybe they didn't choose and had their hands forced, I don't know.

Personally i don't see them work well together.

Even though i kinda remember reading somewhere that Harden + Westbrook was somehow better than Westbrook + Durant and Durant + Harden in OKC stat wise...i was actually shocked about this cause i thought on paper they should be the worst pair between the three possibilities.

I don't like Westbrook very much, but if you can add someone that talented you do it and figure it out.

(Of course, I said the same about Ty Lawson so don't pay me too much attention.)

That said, for this team specifically, offer me the choice of Westbrook or roughly any other top 15 player not named "Cousins" and I'll take the other guy.

Did we learn nothing from the Dwight saga?

    Chemistry/fit first, superstar second.

I'd rather go after Cousins, seeing as how he can step back and hit jumpers but alo how he could dominate down low when our 3s are not falling...and I'm not saying this as a WE BETTER GO GET COUSINS...I'm just saying, he's a much better fit.

Blake is a better fit, perfect fit for MDA actually in that his game resembles Amare. Problem with Blake is I think the guy is Charmin soft, maybe that would change next to Pat Beverly, Ariza, etc...but if CP3 couldn't get it out of him...

Disagree, only if we can make Westbrook change his game. Imagine Westbrook being a Redick/Thompson/Crawford type of player, always moving to the best position on the court and just scoring and/or slashing to the basket. Plus, he wouldn't have to worry about creating shots for others; all his energy can go towards scoring and rebounding.

    Harden: 26p / 6r / 15a
    Westbrook: 27p / 13r / 7a

But that's in a perfect world.

Westbrick can't be a Reddick/Thompson/Crawford type because he can't shoot the ball worth a damn. He's completely worthless off-ball.
