ClutchFans Game Thread: Thunder @ Rockets 4/19/2017 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 2)

This game solidifies why Westbrook shouldn't be MVP.

He lost the game for his team in the fourth.

It's so apparent why Durant left.

 

I didn't like the ball and clock management in the last minute or so. Rockets had 3 timeouts and D'Antoni let full court pressure get to Harden on several possessions and he had a turnover for no reason. We are lucky Thunder were unable to capitalize on it. But after going up 10 points, smart coaching and playmaking should have put this game away. This cannot happen against better teams in the playoffs.

 

I know man but its unbelievable to me that they can miss something so obvious right in the middle of the court. I'd almost prefer to it be some obscure rule that I'm missing then to witness that kind of ineptitude.

Guys I just saw the box score and Westbrook had a 50 point triple double.

Harden and the Rockets have been bested again

 

Lou and Gordon playing like we all dreamed they would.

This would have been a blowout if Ryno could do his one job.

 

I'm so relived, solid win. Rockets took care of business. Proud of the Rockets once again.

Not going to lie, MVP performance from Russell Westbrook. That wasn't a stat padding 50 pt triple double.

 

exactly. i expect more of that unless the rockets break the press easily the first couple times.

in OKC i expect their bigs to have the edge on the boards, while we will get less calls (harden 20 FTA). the good news is that ryno shoots better on the road. it will be a VERY close game 3 and 4. we only need 1 of them.

 

Why didn't his teammates help him make more shots?????

 

I think it was more rooting for his fellow UCLA alum.

 

Harden's bball IQ is off the charts compared to WB. WB just keeps forcing shots when he is bricking

He single handedly kept them in the game and then played OKC out of the game

Rockets should let WB keep chucking. let him get his 50 points. It basically freezes out the other guys as they are never prepared to shoot and when they get a chance they're cold

 

Story of the season:
WB gets the triple double
Harden gets the W

Stats mean nothing in the playoffs, just wins. good for Westbrook. Impressive non stat padding 50 pt triple double. Gimme dem W's all day though!

I wouldn't mind seeing Troy Williams if Anderson starts 0-5 from the 3 point line again. What is Troy's threshold for success to do better than Anderson so far? Mediocre defense and better than 0-10? I think he can do it.

 

MVP performance is taking 40+ shots and hitting less than 40% of them? Going 4-18 in the 4th quarter?

If Harden did this he would get crushed on this board. A horrible inefficient, ball hogging 50 point triple double where he shot his team out of a lead.

 

Now we can watch everyone throw the rest of the Thunder under the bus again! Damn they must get sick of that s***.

Statistical note: The league points per possession is something like 1.08. A 51 point triple double is not all that impressive when you use (roughly) 56 possessions to get there. In fact, the scoring portion of it is equivalent to about 10% worse than Philly's league-worst offense.
