It's unfortunate that the voters are more focused on mildly larger stats than they are about winning games. It's also unfortunate that your comment is incorrect.
Remember when it was between Curry and LeBron for MVP and they claimed Curry had the upper hand do to having the better overall record? How is that not the narrative now? It's not like Harden's stats are a ways away from what Westbrook was able to do.... 2 rebounds! If they give it to Westbrook and we end up sweeping the Thunder I'll take that over the MVP. Let the critics/voters explain that sh**!
It'll be rather easy for them. "It's a regular season award" "He averaged a triple double" "Harden had much more help"
Dead serious idgaf about MVP anymore, lets focus on winning this series and making a deep run. Yall know damn well Harden doesnt stand a chance with the narrative against him.
Does anyone else agree that the Toyota Center crowd was awesome last night? The best in a long time I think
It was hands down the best all season. I'm a season ticket holder and the only ones that we're jam packed were the Spurs game were we lost the 13 point lead in the final 3 min the Cavs game the 2 warriors games and that Sunday game against okc. When Toyota center is rocking like that it's awesome and players like harden and especially bev feed off that. If anyone was there you could see the different vibe that was coming from harden when he ran out that tunnel. Him and bev were extra focused but very calm. It was really awesome to see. It really gave me the feeling that harden finally feels like he really is the best player in the game and can do whatever he wants and he proved it last night.
That feel when "the ball is my only friend" is more popular than our boy James. Everyone knows that's what this award is right? The Most Popular Player award. The only award that matters is the one that isn't subjectively voted on by biased media - the LOB trophy. MVP means literally nothing except "most popular" amongst media voters. Sucks that James can't be most popular, but haters gonna hate.
I agree. In relation to Harden a lot of Harden critics who doubt his fire unfortunately believe Westbrook's antics reflect more desire A study in human nature. There couldn't be two more opposite on court personalities
LOL at the new excuse idiotic media members are using to state why WB is this years MVP. If he doesnt get a triple double...they stink. "Harden's supporting cast is so much better..." But why havent anyone asked why those around WB not playing better than they have before. Those playing around Harden have had huge moments the entire season...case and point..Beverley last night. But Gordon, Anderson, Harrel, Capela, Lou, Beverley, Ariza all have had games where they thrived off Harden's willingness to make a conscious effort to involve those around him. Its precisely why his "teammates" are better around him...Harden has done this the entire season.
I like his closing comment, though. "Yesterday, one guy played like the basketball is his bestfriend, and the other like the MVP doesn't matter and winning is the only thing that matter."
Honestly surprised Devin Booker is not getting more talk for MVP, after dragging his teammates on his back all season, including his 70 point game. That roster is so bad, it's a testament to Booker's greatness, that the Suns finished with 24 wins. (An improvement on last season's 23 wins). This is all without the services of one KEVIN DURANT, I might add, who decided to play for the Warriors instead of the Suns. Booker even managed to win more games than the Brooklyn Nets, a feat that only 28 other teams accomplished. Could you imagine Booker on the Pelicans?! He would carry them to the 8th seed for sure, and maybe keep one of the playoff losses against the Warriors to just 15 points. If I had a vote, my ballot would look like this: Russell Westbrook (HE AVERAGED A TRIPLE DOUBLE) Devin Booker (70 point game and completely turned the Suns into a (24 game) winning organization Joel Embiid (put up Hakeem like numbers in just 31 games and went 13-18, almost a playoff pace!) DeMarcus Cousins (Went from a 32 win team to a 34 win team, proving his winning presence) Trevor Ariza (one of the greatest ALL-STARS of his generation)
Who cares about some damn award they're giving out in June or July or something.... by that time nobody is gonna give a ****....
Game 1 should have made many feel buyers remorse and instead they are just digging in their boots deeper. At this point it's way beyond a waste of time to discuss MVP any further.
That year, Robinson was more of an MVP in the regular season than Olajuwon. Robinson 27.6 ppg, 10.8 rpg, 3.2 blocks/gm and played in 81 games with Spurs winning 59 games and the division. Olajuwon 27.8 ppg, 10.8 rpg, 3.36 blocks/pg and only played in 72 games with Rockets having only 47 wins. No way Hakeem deserved that MVP over Robinson. It was sweet to see Hakeem dismantle him in the playoffs though. Now the argument could've been made for Shaq who had 29.3 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 2.4 blocks/pg and played in 79 games with Orlando winning 57 games. But he was the victim of being young while voters thought this may be Robinson's last chance. In a normal year, Kawhi would be MVP since he had 25.5 ppg, team 61 wins, won their division and the Spurs were 2nd in the NBA. Westbrook would have been 3rd behind Harden. But because of the fact they changed the revealing of the MVP until after the season suggests that the NBA wanted Westbrook to win it and didn't want to feel embarrassed when he wasn't playing in the 2nd round to be presented with the trophy.
In a normal year it would be Durant or Curry. However Westbrook and Harden did have historical years but wins plus individual performance equals a Warrior MVP
