My mom dragged me to an Assembly of God service right after I worked a full Easter shift at Kroger senior year of high school. I stayed in the car and all the kids came out of the chapel and stood around it just staring at me, so I'm kind of with Trump on this one.
that's great to hear Christianity is about serving the poor and loving thy neighbor. anxious to see the changes.
Would have been even funnier if he just did it this week after dropping the mother of all bombs on Afghanistan and shooting cruise missiles. The accepting the Lord thing is always good for a few point boost. I always got a chuckle when thinking about old Ronald Reagan who was the first Repub to play the whole Born Again thing successfully as the pastors and televangelists began to preach to their working class flocks Jesus wanted them to vote Repub. A couple of months after being elected, Reagan's advisors had to advise him that he had not gone to church once so he made a great show of going once
ABC: Trump Attends Easter Service in Palm Beach I dislike President Trump as much as the next guy, but come on. Don't sink to easily-disprovable-meme-level with your criticism, people.
While liberals should do their research before falsely criticizing anything Trump does or doesn't do (especially about non policy items), I do think its important as hell to continue to press the likely possibility that Trump is a total con to the Christian Evangelical Right. I've said it before that Trump had a shot at winning at the moment where James Dobson & Co. got that photo opp with them laying hands on Trump and calling him a "Baby Christian". I myself saw it with my own two eyes and ears with my family and friends who are dedicated Christians (who wanted Cruz, and despided Trump beforehand because he was largely seen as immoral to the Christian community) do an about face and accept Trump as a Sinner on his newfound path to being an unlikely champion for Christian ideals. (They also see Pence as a White Knight champion who can do no wrong that wins Trump major points). So its no surprise that Trump knows the con, and knows that their support is largely what is holding up his base. He's likely to lose some of the neo-libertarian Nationalists over time, but not the Conservative Christians. We see this soooo evidently when Trump uses in his language all the time to bring up "BABIES" (Dog whistle to the pro-life crowd) as much as he can to drive home his points for action. Politically if there are ways for Liberals and Dems to continue to prove that Trump was pulling a con on Christians they should do so. The Christian right actually still thinks he's on their side, and is on a path to righteousness. Some will continue to follow blindly, but showing the world that he is a phony and a con artist is what everyone should do. If he's not holding steady to a Christian walk of life, the world should know about it. Its what got him elected in the first place.
That level of detailed thinking is not contained photos of the Obamas attending church while implying Trump didn't. I don't disagree with you, but the negatives effects of Trump's policies on the lives of people who voted for him en masse won't be conveyed via snarky tweet.
While many churches poke fun at people that attend church twice a year (typically Christmas and Easter) and call them "Creasters" my church is much more welcoming and less judgmental... there is good in even attending once and the hope being the experience is good enough that you attend more often and get something from it. Maybe Trump and family will... and maybe it will be reflected in his approach to being President (OK, its a longshot, but miracles can happen!).
Thanks for doing the correction. I still think it's a farce that people think Trump is a Christian in any sincere way.
