If an officer is threatening to arrest you, you either comply or get arrested, regardless if its lawful or unlawful. I am not sure why this is such a hard concept to understand. If you feel your rights have been violated, you get an attorney. mmkayy? You dont resist arrest and get your ass kicked.

Are you really suggesting that people have a right to refuse arrest because they *think* the order is unlawful? Coming from a nation that is one of the most uneducated nations in 1st world?

This is not about abusive and intimidating officers as with the United case, the officers were very patient. They were not there to be judge, jury and execution. They were there to remove a person deemed 'persona non grata' by Republic Airlines. IE: They were doing their jobs.

So you don't believe people should stand up for their rights in the moment, rather they should do whatever authority says and then fight for their right in court?

I don't agree with that. If my rights are being grossly violated, I will resist when it's worth it to. I'm not going to drop my pants and bend over because law enforcement tells me to, then file a complaint afterwards. But if you're okay with that, you do you.

I'll play along with you bro, so according to you an order from the cops is an order whether it is lawful or not. Let say the cops order you to strip naked, let say the cops order you to strip naked and fight another passenger to entertain other passengers, do you comply then hire an attorney and duke it out in court? Common bro!!!

yes man, thats exactly what you should do. And if he asks you to kill 6 million jews, you should do that too.

How would your weird fantasy scenario ever play out like that? And how is that even remotely close to telling a passenger to deboard?

The point is an order isn't unlawful because you *think* it is unlawful. Despite what all the internet attorneys think, we wont know if Dao was legally right or wrong unless it actually goes to court ... which it never will. Contrary to your fantasy strip naked and fight scenario.

I'm just going with your line of thinking bro, you said an order is an order if it is coming from the cops. The cops did not even know in this case that they can't do that to this doctor yet they did it anyway. Again, tell me what to stop the cops from giving you another different order?

what's next on the United Airline saga ?

United is scheduled to release its quarter earnings report today, after the close of business. the earning conference is scheduled for tomorrow AM, where the MoFo Munoz will be called to the podium to answer questions from analysts and stockholders, which include representatives from Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA), one of the largest institutional owner of UAL

Warren Buffett runs BRKA, who is also one of the largest institutional owner of Wells Fargo, WFC. Upon a Congressional hearing---confirming that WFC had stolen customer information to create fake accounts in order to meet sales incentives---WFC's CEO was quickly fired. In addition, the CEO and some Sr. Mgmt folks were ordered to return over $30 million in bonus payments. Warren Buffett was working behind the scene to effect this punishment on the CEO / Sr mgmt.

At the earning conference call on Tue AM, i want to see the MOFO Munoz squirm, when analyst / stockholders ask him
    • should he be fired,
    • has he been contacted by authorities (Chicago, FAA, Congress), if so elaborate
    • has he been in communication w representatives from BRKA, if so elaborate
    • should there be a "claw back" on his bonuses, a la WFC's CEO

Other than a few inconvenient flight cancellations, I have had pretty good luck flying. For the flight cancellations, I was able to work with the airline to accommodate me although it did cause a luggage issue one time.

You must have been living in a police state for too long. me too and I will tell the exact same thing to my son too. And I have other observations:

When USA were talking (also yelling, fighting, or even bombing) for the human rights of people from other countries, their own people actually have no rights to refuse or resist.

One of the excuses for Americans having guns in their household is to protect the democracy, but somehow the people have no rights to resist ...

As tamed as Americans are, police brutality is becoming a culture of USA. The non-resist stuff only get us more corrupt brutal police officers.

I think the best way to stand up for his rights in the face of airport police would be to refuse to leave unless he was being arrested and force the cops to formalize the removal as an arrest. Then, if you're arrested, go peaceably. With that approach, you've managed to show damages for standing in a lawsuit without getting your face beat in. If you leave without an arrest, the airline will later argue that you consented. This assumes though that the cops gave him the opportunity to be arrested and that he could think in a sober-minded way in the moment. I don't find any fault with his approach, but he might prefer to have his front teeth today. Honestly, I don't know why the cops would lay a hand on the guy without arresting him for something, like they are bouncers at a nightclub.
