And again...Lowe is a very good analyst and even if he didn't pick Harden or Gordon/MDA you can still understand/agree with him without issues because his arguments make sense, other guys are just bad, they're basically on the same level of random fans on the internet.
Lowe made a good case for Kawhi but he neglected a key factor: Kawhi missed 8 games this year and played in less wins than Harden. When the MVP race is this close, missing 10% of the season should absolutely matter. It's a shame that voters aren't professional or disciplined enough to analyze the entire season for their votes. Harden was clearly in the lead a few weeks ago, and a few big games from Russ completely changed the narrative.
Exactly. Nothing changed between that game and the end of the season. People needed a reason to not vote for Harden and those games and the constant ESPN push of the triple double was all they needed. Its also easier to vote Westbrook. You don't have to defend anything because triple double. You have to defend Harden and people are too lazy and dumb to want to work to do that.
It's a wrap I heard 1/3 of the MVP voters are from ESPN. 33.3333% Congrats Russ! How the **** can anti Rockets BSPN have so many voters? Ridiculous
Lowe's argument for Kawhi was good. This was the key statement for me from Lowe's argument though Still: If you weigh shot creation even more heavily than I do, Leonard is not the MVP. I value shot creation more heavily than Lowe as it relates to Harden being the engine that makes the Rockets go.
Wow, this is ridiculously lopsided. You have to assume there's some serious bias if the 10th best team in the league has the runaway MVP. Then again, we already knew Harden wasn't well-liked.
Harden is closer to 4th place in the race than he is to 1st. This is going to be an absolute landslide. A true travesty.
i will never place any importance on the MVP after this season. we better take a giant **** on everybody's faces and make them fellate us all summer long after we win it all
and then there's this: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-case-for-stephen-curry-mvp/ The Case For Stephen Curry, MVP By Benjamin Morris Filed under NBA MVP Published Apr. 13, 2017 It almost goes without saying that Stephen Curry is the best player on the best team in basketball — the first team in history to win at least 67 games three seasons in a row. But Curry isn’t going to win his third-straight MVP. As of April 9, zero percent of ESPN’s Forecast panel predicted that Curry would win, and only 2 percent thought he deserved it. Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double — which I personally thought impossible — an accomplishment so storied that it will almost certainly overshadow anything else. Even as FiveThirtyEight’s sports team planned this week’s series of cases for the various MVP contenders, there was some question whether we should make a case for Curry at all. I volunteered for the assignment, and not because I’m our resident bard of all things Curry. I volunteered because Curry really is the NBA’s most valuable player. more at the link, read it and weep
If that is true and that continues then Harden never had a chance to begin with. It is sadly out of his grasp. Move on!
I can't stand this conspiracy. They change it up every year. In 2014 Harden got robbed because Curry was the better player on the better team... now Harden is the better player on the better team, but Westbrook gets more votes and media love? Seriously, I want the title as much as any of you, but Harden deserves this MVP. As we all know, we won't know who won until a couple weeks after the Finals, but it would be awesome winning a championship with whoever is the Finals MVP alongside Harden winning the season MVP. Justice needs to be served.
Itd be kind of hilarious if we won the chip but westbrook got mvp. I dont think harden would mind at that point lol. For now i just wanna get out of the 1st round tho
Lets see, Harden lost due to the other candidates team having a better record and now lost even though the other team had a worse record. So next season he will lose the mvp when both teams have the same record. Dude, should be a 2 time MVP. I hope Harden brings it against OKC...
