I'm still not convinced there will be a major run at QBs in round one. We've seen this before where the class gets hyped up and then they start slipping.

And even then I wouldn't waste an early pick on one while passing up gems in the deepest defensive class in years. We'd have better luck at finding the next Dak in round 5 than betting the house on products of gimmick offenses like Patrick Mahomes and Webb. It's so sad because when I first heard someone bring up Pat Mahomes months ago and saw he was from Tech I seriously thought it was a joke. Someone is about to ruin their franchise and I hope it's not us. I just don't want the Texans to feel pressured into taking one of these underwhelming guys early.

Certain types do, for sure. Some sooner than others.

They can do some great stuff with Hodgkin's nowadays. It's one of the more curable cancers there are, and typically does not come back.

Source: I work with cancer patients every day.

Well that's certainly good to hear, my only experience is with non-Hodgkin's via a friend that had that BS come back twice after he thought he beat it so that's where I was coming from. If this type doesn't have a very high chance of that happening then it's all good.

Yeah, non-Hodgkins can be a little harder to control and I believe has a higher recurrence rate.

I hope your friend is well.

Stupid move at this point in free agency with all the cap room available. Would have been much needed depth with Mancz or Martin moving over to G, also likely he'd be much better in Year 2 under a new system

I would still like to see the Texans throw some money at AD to be the power back in the system. I don't think he's a full time RB at this point, but him and Lamar Miller would make one hell of a 1-2 punch. I mean, we've got the money to do it....why not?

Bob McNair grew up in rural North Carolina during the 40's....you don't think he ever got whipped with a belt by his parents?

I wonder why we didn't do that right when the season ended and offered more money to Bouye.

I don't believe cap space was the impediment with Bouye; I think they had a ceiling and once negotiations went beyond that, they - rightly or wrongly - exercised financial discipline.

We know they refused to franchise him (~$14MM) and reportedly topped out at $60MM/5 - ~$12MM/year. If they wanted to increase their offer (Jacksonville eventually got him for ~$13.5MM/year), they could have and it wouldn't have required creating cap space as they had plenty.

Bob McNair: "Rick you know those free agents you signed last year didn't really pan out. Now I know it was all bad luck. No one knew that Brock wasn't a church going kind of man. Still, make sure that we don't get a repeat of last year."

Rick Smith: (In his head: Okay well I guess we just won't sign anyone.)

Well you know the old saying, "When you go 9-7 three years in a row, replace veterans with rookies and STAND PAT to achieve greatness". Remember when Smith replaced his veteran DB's with rookies? Record breaking.
