DD is like that guy with the beard from Houston Chronicle (John McClain I think...); whenever he makes any sort of observation about basketball, we can all pretty much assume the opposite will be true.
Anderson was always a subpar rebounder and constantly being camped on the perimeter half the time doesn't help with that. Considering we had the likes of T-Jones and D-Mo for PF, I don't think Ryno is hurting the team at all.
That doesn't excuse his rebounding, he's had solid rebounding seasons, his career average before this season was over 12%, he averaged 8.5% this season which is really bad for a PF. Rockets not having we any good PF's for the last couple of seasons has nothing to do with the negative impacts of Anderson's poor defense and rebounding.
Of course it does. He's a poor rebounder as it is close to the rim, why do you expect better when he is 20+ ft AWAY from the rim? Again... of course it does. His poor D is comparable to T-Jones. He is absolutely a better scorer than T-Jones. Hence, he has a less negative impact on our team than what we had previously.
Weird, how did Amare do in that offense in Phoenix? I don't recall his 3pt game being featured at all. DD
You do know that was almost ten years ago and Amare played a lot of center then... right? The offense that the Rockets run now isn't as much like the Suns ran circa 2005 as you seem to think. D'Antoni has adjusted his offense quite a bit, it isn't a static system.
Dude hes been on fire since he came back from that ankle sprain. Who would you want to replace him with? He is a player that has a holistic impact on how the team operates as a whole. The stats prove it. @BigMaloe has dropped stats across the board to support this claim. Who do you want?
Worth it, though if Millsap becomes available I'd take him as our starting PF or center if they could work together Still, he's been really underrated and so crucial so our system and results. Thank you Ryno for not getting hurt and shooting the way you do. Crazy though you can make that much money when your only talent is shooting.
The Rockets are flat out better with him playing. His numbers may not impress, but the space he creates by drawing defenders out way beyond the arc is key for guys like Harden, Capela and Nene to finish at the rim.
Kind of crazy how this is getting bumped after 2 crazy ryno games where he dropped 20 each night. If you think ryno isnt a big piece for our team then you are calling morey, dantoni, and harden all fools. Remember that when you question this move that hard
Does he need to? No. He could easily position himself just behind the 3-point line and given his size, he'd likely have little trouble getting those shots off. But he seems to have no trouble making shots from 28-30 feet away, so why not take them that far out? Gordon is the guy who probably needs to take them from closer in.
I don't think Ryan Anderson would be nearly as hard to move as you believe. Anderson was signed with the knowledge that he could be moved if necessary.
Dude he would be so easy to trade if we wanted to. Steven adams makes 25 mil! Lol this is todays nba guys. Clutchfans has Gotta stop reacting to the shock value of andersons contract. Its average, valuable, and moveable. Once again i ask the question to the haters on this thread, who would be a better use of that $ at this point???
Yeah, coming off a season where he finally stayed healthy and with the new reality in the NBA of guys like him making 20+ mil a year, I think the contract could be moved. What the Rockets have to take back or how many picks they have to throw in remains to be seen though. If the Rockets are gonna clear capspace this summer though, I would imagine Ariza and Williams(Lou, not Troy) would be the first to go. Both are on bargain contracts and will have only a year left on their deals.
I wonder if Clutchfans.net would rather Have Mo Speights than Ryno. I know Morey has coveted Mo Buckets in the past. I like Ryno.
Think of Ryno like this. We are playing gsw. Draymond is the most important player on that team. He is the engine. And he is the anchor for that defense. They are great at defending the rim without a true rim protector because draymonds absolutely fantastic at help defense. He shades and rotates amazingly. He is a great individual defender as well both in the post and the perimeter where again he is an absolute stud perimeter defender. Our offense is built around PnR attacking the basket, alley ooping or kicking to shooters. We are fantastic when Harden is attacking the rim constantly. Draymond thus has to decide, guard Ryan tight and allow the lane or give space to clog the lanes. If he clogs the lane Ryno will spread with open shots. How does gsw counter? They go death lineup with draymond at the 5. So what do we do? We play Ryan at the 5 ourselves. Ryan is the second most important player when we play gsw. If he's hot we have a chance against them. Against Utah? His value isn't nearly as Hugh. He still provides shooting and space but not like against gsw. His offensive spacing is vital to our success. But let's just get mad he is making Deng money
It depends on how much cap space the Rockets need to clear. You are right, that if the Rockets decide it is too difficult to move Anderson, they can simply move Ariza and/or Williams and get assets in return as well as cap space.
Ryan is big for this team. If he shoots 38% threes or better then we can beat anybody. If his shot is off then he's less helpful. But I do think the spacing he provides is helpful even if his shot isn't falling. His defense isn't good but it's not as horrible as people say. To beat SA and GSW we need Ryan to have good/great games for most of those series. If he does, then we have a good shot against SA and a shot against GSW.
