What a minute, They made a trophy for triple doubles? Where is Harden's gawd damn trophy for points produced? I bet Harden's trophy is a middle finger.

Narrative has completed shifted away from its pro-Harden slant of a couple months ago.

Oh well. 2nd in MVP voting ain't all that bad.

2nd is the first loser! 3rd place is there to restrain the first loser from the winner!

I'm glad this over. Finally over. Announced June 26 (maybe leaked earlier) but it's over.

Time to go play ball now.

And it's Russell Westbrook with the MPP! Most Popular Player of 16-17!

Skip: Harden has had a terrific year. Westbrook should win MVP by a landslide & I do believe he'll win by a large margin. Oscar Robertson went all the way to OKC to honor the guy who broke his record. Oscar has been highly critical of today's game & players & for him to validate Russell, that counts for me.

Speaking of D'Antoni, he's about to win COY by a landslide. Steve Nash got help from that system. Shaq deserved that 2nd MVP. He got help from that system. It inflated his MVP case. Harden is getting help from Mike D'Antoni's COY system. Do you realize Eric Gordon is going to win SMOY? 3rd in that voting will be Lou Williams. That's a lot of help for Harden. He's playing on a team that's made 114 more threes. Anderson at 40%, Beverley at 38, Gordon & LouWill at 37, Ariza at 34. They bomb you with threes. It's easy assists for Harden. Worst 3pt team? It's the Thunder. Russell doesn't have that to fall back on. What does analytics embrace the most? The 3pt shot. The other team came within 8 wins of the Rockets. That's the Russ factor. They won 47 games but look at the quality of wins: SA, Cleveland, Houston.

    SS: Didn't Houston do that?

SB: That's Russell though without much help. Swept the Celtics. Beat LAC twice. I could go on. It was an unheard of year. He averaged a triple-double. That should be case closed right there. I'm sorry, it's over.

SS: Nope. The answer is no. You keep saying Steve Nash. 30-11-8. That's vastly different from Nash. Gordon 6MOY? Is this the Gordon the Pelicans chose not to re-sign?

SB: I don't care about someone else's mistake. They're shooting lights out.

SS: You can only shoot lights out if someone can get you the ball to make the shot. Is this the same Harden you said is a selfish & ball stopper?

    SB: Used to be.

    SS: What happened?

SB: D'Antoni. It's the system. This is maximizing his capabilities.

SS: Rockets built around shooters. Thunder have bigs. They let Russell do what he does.

SB: No, they built it around Westbrook & Durant. Durant left them high & dry & still won 47 games.

SS: Rockets had 3rd best record in the NBA. Harden accounted for more points than RW.

SB: He has snipers. Russell doesn't have them.

    ...

SS: I want the player that numbers equated to more wins than the T-D and finished 8 games behind. 29-11-8. I wish they would've announced MVP. You remember 1995 when they gave it to David Robinson & he had to go up against Hakeem? What happened Skip? What did he do? James Harden is gonna COOK Russell Westbrook. How many games? MVP should at least get 3 games.

SB: He needs help like LeBron.

So among MVP candidates, (games played in)
    Harden 54 Wins
    Kawhi 54
    Lebron 51
    Westbrook 46

Kawhi has missed 8 games. Which would be one of most ever for an MVP.
The only MVPs to miss more than 8 games were Iverson (11) and Walton (24).
Looking at list of MVPs, most missed 0-3 games.

But he also missed 18 games in 2015 and won DPOY
And missed 10 games last year, won DPOY & 2nd place MVP

Can argue he has best winning % when he plays, but it sucks people are using 61 Wins as an argument. I've yet to see media mention his missing games and the 7-1 record

    Yup.

Next year Kawhi will be MPP and it will lead to an MVP. Harden likely finishes 2nd or 3rd.

Next year it'll be back to Steph Curry I bet, maybe Lebron one more time. Harden once again comes in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th.

Then I bet we'll be back to Westbrook after a free agent signs there and the Thunder surge into the Top 4 of the West. Harden once again will finish anywhere from 2nd to 3rd.

We'll keep doing this for years. Narrative will always matter and it will always shift away from Harden.

It's not a good argument. Look at the opponents for those 8 games. For the most part, those teams were either bottom-feeders or injured.

Honestly, I hope Harden is well aware that he's going to lose now and make it's his mission to absolutely **** up OKC. I want the rox to humiliate Westbrook and for Harden to go off.

Then when they give that trophy to WB we can all reminisce on Harden's Dream-like demolition.

Please make this a reality or even better yet, everything I just said but Harden also gets the MVP

Harden might be one of the greatest players to ever not win an MVP.

So you gonna take away the wins when Kawhi played (and won) against bottom-feeders or opponents that were injured?

I really wish the people around James Harden or around Rockets organization can pass all these WB MVP voting information to them before the Playoff and piss the heck of them, so we can see the best Rockets ever in the first round of playoff. That's the best motivation before the first round starts :)

As I've said a trillion times, and everyone knows, this isn't about Westbrook "carrying" his team to the 6th seed (where everyone thought they'd finish).

It's about the arbitrary triple double number.

2 extra rebounds is being valued more than 8 extra wins... when basically 99.99% of time in history that has NEVER happened.

The last time rebounds mattered for a guard/wing player that won MVP was basically never, lol.

The ONLY satisfaction that Harden can gain from losing the MVP to Westbrook is to raise the Larry O'Brien trophy at the end of the finals.

This whole demolishing Westbrook in the first round is a nice narrative, but if we lose in the second round then what's the point?

If Harden and the Rockets achieve the ultimate prize in the championship then guess what?

Harden will be a champion, and Westbrook will not.
