It's not true, ESPN used a third party to get their totals rather than straight from the NBA itself.

They did this because they were unprepared for this. The Dream Shake tweeted out Harden's total based off of NBA.com numbers and ESPN responded within 5 minutes with their number.

The guy who tweeted it out clearly didn't think there was going to be pushback to it. He went back and forth on twitter then refused to give his number of total points entering tonight.

James is probably not the most popular dude in the media (maybe top 5 popularity) but he is still Top 10 in jersey sales, he will get his Benjamins.

We won't see a dime as fans so I do not worry too much.

NBA tv is all over Westbrook's penis like the triple double was the FINALS win. They are running ads like it's bigger than the Championship and the biggest achievement in the NBA.

So while Harden may clearly be the MVP to me and other fellow Rocket's fans, the people that promote narratives to make money off of have spoken and Harden probably won't win. I think that will be a travesty and unfair to him and real fans. But again, no one ever said life was fair. Harden is still a half a billionaire so far at least, so he just has to win in the playoffs and let it fuel his drive.

Well he has 2356 points and 907 assists.

The number in question is the total number of three-point assists.

If that number is greater than 369, then he has the record

Yea just ran the math, if he had 377 that means the points created on NBA.com's website is right and our number is correct not ESPN's

not according to nba.com stats, Olajuwon is. also according to nba.com stats, harden broke the points created record. it should end there, we don't need to invent qualifiers or disqualifiers.

So the new updated number based on nba.com 3 pt fgm are:

    2356 points
    907 assists, 377 leading to triples = 2191
TOTAL = 4547 AND YOUR NEW ALL TIME POINTS GENERATED TOTAL LEADER

Not so fast. That Passing Dashboard table has an Assist column. It doesn't add up to the FGM per player. So it might have a pass that didn't actually lead to a recorded assist.

Yeah, that Passing Dashboard has an assist column in it per player.

You are still not following along. nba.com's points created includes FT points. That's not a qualifier, it is something that Tiny Archibald's numbers don't include. There is a difference between a qualifier and not fairly including points for one player but not the other.

Yeah, come to think of it, it's weird, Because if you add made 2 pt fgm and 3pt fgm, he would then have 997 assists total. So I'm not sure what's going on with any numbers anymore.

I still say we should just take volunteers and count the three point assists for ourselves. That's what reddit would do.

    come on guys....who's with me.

Or it shows that the Rockets are more focused on making a winning impact in the playoffs than individual records.

Yeap, and those assists add up to 885, exactly what they had Harden at after 80 games. So it seems again, unfortunately, that Harden could end up 1 point shy. This is sad. You would think our stats wizard Morey would be all on top of this stat.
