The hate is real, we know this. The media will point to Harden getting 1st runner up two years back but they could swallow that. There's no trophy for that. The Rockets have been detestable since Beverly injured Westbrook, clearly sent by Morey himself using advanced nerd analytics to take him out. We complain and moan about why Harden won't win MVP, why all of the sudden Dantoni is an elite coach, our superior teammates, no defense, foul shots, Dwight when he was here, etc. Seems every year we try and make everyone else like us when they just don't. They don't like Morey, they don't like Harden and they don't like Beverly. They respect what they bring to the game on a technical level but that's pretty much it. They like us as much as they legally have to. Other than that give them Steph and his grandpa shoes or Westbrook and his thunderous 47 win dunks or Kawhi's robotic charm that's akin to a 90s era toaster. I'm tired of begging these dudes to like us. If we're supposed to be the villains the let's just be the villains. Go Rockets and our band of detestable brothers. P.s. McHale go eff yourself but make sure to ask your wife if it's ok first.
I had been saying that in the Dwight era. Rockets need a heel turn badly. I'm sick of the NBA coddling their Super Cena Golden State Warriors. Let's turn heel, and the best way to do it is in our brand new black uni's.
Errr -- just to be clear, there is no legal requirement for anyone to like a player or a team. (Though I do realize we Americans prefer to legislate our opinions on everyone else, now.)
Why not? Heels became the superstars after a while, nobody likes the good guys anymore. Lebron went heel and won in Miami. Steph Curry is a babyface playing on a heel team. Durant went to the heel team. Westbrook is like a badass babyface. Spurs been wearing black for 20 years. Black unis all day. Have Beverley go scream in microphones that Westbrook's knees are about to explode. Have Ariza or someone kick Adams in the nuts.
Media is bad but Kevin McFail is the absolute worst. A bitter, salty loser who is filled with hate for the Rockets. It hurts him to see Rockets and harden play so well with a clear basketball structure as opposed to the 24hr fitness pick up ball he ran. Never mind that this was the only organization which made the foolish mistake of hiring him as coach and then renewing his contract.
Most of the good teams are hated. The Spurs have avoided being hated by most people. But, the Warriors and the Cavs are strongly disliked by many. Most fans around the NBA would love Harden if he played for their team.
exactly. Embrace the hate. This is one of the most important reasons I chose the Rockets as my west team. Because everyone seems to hate them. If they hate you it means you are doing something right.
Harden is on the side of sensitive. He can't do it. Although I think with age he is toughening up for example he could give a rats ass about how many turnovers he has now.
There is at least a contractual obligation. Most talking heads are media members being paid to give unbiased opinions. Yet when it comes to voting or coverage, there is clear bias.
Rockets have been hated since Dream beat the Knicks. That's the Genesis #NEVERFORGET I don't give a **** if they like the Rockets, I just want them to get credit and the respect.
Fans may hate the Warriors and Cavs but they are respected. These teams, however, are not disliked by the media. You're wrong about fans wanting Harden on their team. They really don't like him or the way he plays. There was some article about trading Harden to the Celtics for some scrubs, picks and Bradley and the Celtic fan base was livid. They wanted no part of Harden.
"I'm tired of begging dudes to like us"? Why do you give a $hit who likes us or hates us? Do you beg people to be your friend? There's always going to be haters. Look at yourself like a bus and you're the driver. People are going to be getting on and people are going to be getting off. Either way the bus is moving forward and you don't (or shouldn't) care either way. Same for the Rockets.
It all started when Morey poison pilled New York and Chicago, two of the biggest media markets in the country. Then, Dwight chose us over L.A and Golden State which effectively pissed off the entire west coast. After that, pretty much everyone outside of Houston hated the Rockets and wanted to see them fail. The icing on the cake was James leaving Nike to sign with Adidas which created the perfect **** storm for the major networks. JVG might be the only dude left with nice things to say about the Rockets. This was my media conspiracy post for the day.
