You know what this season is? It's the 2005-2006 season all over again. That season saw (in order of the ppg leaders)

Kobe jump up 7.8 ppg. Ridiculous. Career high. But then you see a pattern.
Iverson jumped 2.3 points at 30 years old for career high including his 2nd best shooting season since his sophomore year.
LeBron James jumped 4.2 points per for what is still his career high.
Gilbert Arenas jumped 3.8 ppg for his career high.
DWade made a 3 point jump for his 2nd best scoring season. If he had taken 22 attempts like his career high, he probably would have had his career high around 31ppg.
Paul Pierce saw a 5.2ppg increase for his career high.
Dirk didn't increase too much but still...career high ppg.
Carmelo made a 5.7 ppg jump, not a career high but I believe most efficient season he ever had.
Michael Redd..2nd best season before career high next year.
Ray Allen- 2nd best season before career high the next year.
    Elton brand 4.7ppg increase...career high.
    Carter poor season.
    Jason Richardson career high.

Probably more, but you get the point. From 04-07 saw the NBA players take full advantage of the rule change in 04-05 season.
    2004-05
    • New rules were introduced to curtail hand-checking, clarify blocking fouls and call defensive three seconds to open up the game.

To do that would be a concession on OKC's part that they're putting Russ' stats ahead of the success of the franchise.

The triple double average was the goal for OKC. It was predetermined and achieved through the co-ordination of coaching staff and teammates to make it so. I understand why OKC did it as they want to cater to their superstar and give him the greenest of lights to chase history and he did and it's been an awesome boom for the popularity of the league.

But now what? Are Kanter and Adams going to be content to sacrifice their own development for this? Are superstars free agents going to flock to OKC to play Triple Double jockey for Russ?

OKC needs to put the 3D quest behind them if they want to compete for a championship in Russ' tenure imo.

Yeah I have said many times it was that loser from Europe HMMMMM or whatever he used to go by.

He thought he was doing Rockets a service, well he just ruined Harden's career from a certain perspective

He's never going to recover unless he wins a ring like Dirk. Even an MVP won't fix it. Ring(s) is the one and only cure to fans idea of what kind of player he is.

speaking of which...we need a team like that Mavs team. It could happen, but we need time for Capella to develop into Tyson level. Not a guarantee and with time, who knows how good or healthy Ryno, Gordon, Lou, Ariza, Bev will be. I think the most important upgrade to our team is a 2 way SF/PF(hopefully keeping ariza off bench) and size off the bench.

How do your MVP rankings look going into the final week?

I have a ballot & I'm leaning towards Harden right now with consideration for Westbrook & Kawhi Leonard. LeBron is sorta there at four. My answer is: I'm not regarding the T-D as any sort of standard. Clearly he's an amazing rebounder & assist guy. If that number was to drop from 10.0 to 9.94, I wouldn't be any less or more inclined to vote for him. I love the novelty. I'm leaning Harden, because though he doesn't have that magic 1 in front of his rebounding total, he's above 8 and assists are well above 11, shoots much more efficiently & his team is more successful. That's not to take anything away from Westbrook but when you get to the MVP argument, you have to nitpick (in a good way). They're incredible players. I'd be happy to have any one of them leading my team. But you have to divide it up. Oh wow, Westbrook misses 14 shots? That's a lot of shots. Not a crime but if I'm trying to discern where each guy ranks relative to the other, that's a consideration. Inefficiency is something I have to factor in. That's just one of the things you have to consider.

Did Amick just use a random 7 game sample size and win/loss in that 7 game sample as a legitimate MVP argument. Are these people ****ing crazy?

Westbrook's triple double is the biggest plot armor I've ever seen. It's like the 30 man code in Contra. You can't lose with it. Unbelievable. It turns smart people stupid and stupid people into assholes. Stupid ones.

Only hope is that Harden voters have been a bit quieter.

Russ never gonna win sh*t in OKC if he couldn't do it with Durant.

Wow, that's some Skip Bayless low-level stooping from the (usually good?) Sam Amick. Never stoop to Skip Bayless' level.

You're being sarcastic but the answer to your question is a very real yes.

This is the home stretch. The media will pursue whatever avenue props Westbrook.

I think this says a lot more about McHale still being bitter about being let go.

I mean if it's true that harden got mchale fired why does his opinion matter?

If Dwight says Westbrook is that the nail in the coffin?

Or maybe, just maybe, McHale is allowed to have an opinion of his own. Perhaps he really just thinks Westbrook deserves it. Just because he coached the Rockets, doesn't mean he should just automatically endorse a Rocket player.

Says more about McHale as a person than anything else. I know he's had some tragedy in his life but doesn't change the fact that he and his wife are assholes.
