Team gets better, attendance numbers go up, ratings go up which will eventually increase the value of any future media deal.
Anyone see the article about Yuli on Fangraphs today? http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-astros-might-need-a-first-baseman/
Has bregman proven he deserves the 2 spot? Why not stick Marwin there until bregman really breaks out as a solid hitter . Sure, Alex has way more potential , but Marwin is the more professional hitter now . That 2 spot offers such sweet protection (even with altuve struggling) and they aren't going to pitch around you . I'd like to see someone in that spot who can take better advantage of that protection . Outside of that idea , I wouldn't be opposed to seeing altuve hit lead off and springer man the 2 spot with Carlos at the 3 . Our offense functioned best last season with those 3 in the top 3 if I'm not mistaken . It also makes sense to get your best hitters the most AB's
We might wanna move spring down in the order so there's a chance for people to be on base when he does that.
Gattis has the best OBP this season. Let Gattis lead off followed by Correa, then bring in the HR hitters Springer and Marwin.
Gattis having the best OBP is probably a fluke at this point, and is also a product of other hitters struggling . But hell , if he can maintain a .435 OBP then I'd slot his ass in the top 3 with no hesitation. Bregman on the other hand has had a couple of good months and we give him the 2 spot , which could be argued is for your best hitter . I know sample size is small , but just food for thought .
I think George has been down in the lineup before and they thought he pressed too much. In the leadoff spot he just swings normally and his natural power leads to a lot of dingers. Besides, its only once a game he's hitting without someone ahead of him.
My comment was mostly tongue in cheek . Though if he keeps raking at this rate then we should probably consider it . Springer did well in the 2 hole I thought last season .
He'd be fine there too; he's just a good ballplayer. They also lead him off because he's typically one of the OBP leaders on the team.
