[Spicer] At least HITLER didn't use gas on anybody!

Didn't Germany weaponize plenty of chemicals in WW2? It just didn't see widepsread use because it wasn't effective in non-trench warfare.

He's trying to make the case that what Assad is allegedly doing with chemical weapons is more heinous/worse than Hitler. I'm speechless.

This is blatant war mongering. I can handle this country being ruled by liars or idiots, but not both.

That's true. He knew that it would just cause the other side to use gas as well and no one wins there. Hitler was actually gassed in WW1 and was hospitalized.

OP, I don't think he ever said what you're quoting in the thread title. It was a bad enough statement without misrepresenting his mistake. It's just frustrating to see thread titles distorting the story instead of just saying plainly what happened. What he said was dumb and awful. You don't need to change it. If you are going to quote, then quote.


He was insulting that Hitler never used gas bombs in combat. The sentiment is pretty stupid when he was making a morality argument when using gas as an execution method is just as bad. The blunder he made wasn't what you are implying in your thread title. He never said that Hitler never used gas.

 

Trump's own people are ruining his only decent moment as the president. First, Eric rats out Ivanka for calling the shots on the Syria strike and now Spicy goes stupid-mouth without need or cause. Even, when not trying, they keep undermining his presidency. Trump: a fool surrounded by greater fools.

On topic, this was very intentional. It's a dog whistle to the alt right -- "hey, Bannon is out at the security council, and we acted against white white Russia, but wink, wink; we're still with you, our shaved-headed homies. Don't abandon us now."

 

ding ding ding. The same state that pursued a nuclear weapon and pioneered long-range ballistic missiles (the V-2 was terrifying) didn't play nice with chemical weapons out of some morality. A gas attack doesn't really fit with lightning war.

Also, Hitler definitely did gas his "own people", people who were German citizens until he changed the rules, as well as non-citizens, at "the Holocaust Center." (WTF)
