Nope, he didn't run at the combine and at pro day only ran a 4.59. I'm not saying that he couldn't end up being good, just that I'm not sure that he'd make the roster given the depth at WR.

So we have people claiming that the Texans must use picks on inactive 3rd string QB and inactive 3rd string TE. Awesome.

You don't think the Texans will use a single pick on a QB this year?

Oh I do, but I don't think they'll use one on TE. My point was that since they are already throwing a pick away on a guy that won't contribute this season at QB, it would be ridiculous to throw another pick away on a guy with no chance of contributing this season at TE. The team has needs for this upcoming season that should be addressed or at least they should attempt to address.

Makes sense. Although I think you're being overly confident in picks "having no chance of contributing" this season. We lost 6 starters due to season ending injuries last season, benched our starting QB, and waived another guy mid-season who had played in every game before that I believe. Dak, Wentz, Goff, Kessler, and Lynch weren't slated to start last season yet 2 of them were started Week 1 and the rest eventually did. Even Jacoby Brissett got a start for the Super Bowl Champs.

The TE situation is different but if a guy they like falls, who knows that they won't throw a pick at him. I was scratching my head at the Ervin pick last year...

Can you do me a favor and pull up where does CJ rank among TEs please? What is his PFF rank or grade?

Well I suppose I should say that they won't be ready to contribute this season. Injuries could force them into action, but that wouldn't be a good thing.

If you don't know that CJ Fiedorowicz is a very solid and well rounded TE then I can't help you. He was a big part of the offense not just in the passing game where he led the team in TD receptions, but also in the run game where is a very good blocker for a TE.

By all means though, ignore that and the fact that the team just signed Ryan Griffin to a new deal and fantasize about the Texans drafting a TE3 if you like.

As to PFF, CJ Fiedorowicz was the 17th ranked TE last season which isn't too bad considering Nuk Hopkins was the 25th ranked WR.....hell Lamar Miller was the 41st ranked RB according to them.

I never said he wasn't and yeah his 4 TD receptions did lead the team he was a real red area threat. CJ is a very good #2 TE but to totally dismiss upgrading the position via draft which is one of the best classes in years just because we have CJ and resigned griffin is just crazy.

LOL he's one of the better TE's in the NFL and you think he's a #2? Wow.

Well, like I said, feel free to set yourself up for disappointment and failure if you like, but it's almost certainly not happening. When you have other legitimate holes on your roster, you don't draft a 3rd string TE.

CJ had a very nice year. In fact, I would say he dispelled a lot of people's fears that he would be a bust. Whether he's a #1 or a #2 is somewhat debatable, but honestly, I'm with Bobby on this one. I wouldn't use a pick (at least not an early one) on a position that we're, at the very least, average in. We have significantly more pressing needs, and a very finite number of opportunities to address them.

Once again, think you're being overly confident in all of this. You're basically saying there isn't a single QB or TE that can contribute to a team this season.

I still get the feeling that the Texans will take Davis Webb in the first round.

Well there isn't a QB in this class that is expected to be able to contribute to ANY team this season.....so yeah, I don't think that there is any QB i this class that can contribute to the Texans this season.

As to TE, anyone picked wouldn't be first or second string so.....
