    He's not expensive & declining. He'll make $11.3M this year & $11M next year. Still a top 5(or 10) CB.

    Richard Sherman, CB, Seattle Seahawks
After the season, it emerged that Richard Sherman had been playing all year with a nagging knee injury, which likely goes a long way in explaining his relative drop in performance—which was still ultimately good enough to put him on this list above many of his peers. Sherman was tasked with tracking receivers in 2016 more than he has been in the past, and still only surrendered two touchdowns all season and allowed 51.3 percent of passes thrown his way to be caught. Sherman gave up a catch once every 14.9 snaps in coverage, the best mark in the NFL.

Didn't he say this a few years ago & had to eat the newspaper?

The Houston Chronicle's John McClain believes if Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, or Mitchell Trubisky is available at pick No. 25, the Texans will "definitely" take one of the three. This isn't really going out on a limb since Tony Romo's sudden retirement has put the Texans in a bind at quarterback. They definitely had their sights set on Romo if he was released by Dallas and wanted to continue playing. It's now on to Plan B, with Tom Savage and Brandon Weeden atop the depth chart. McClain would "love to see" the Texans grab Mahomes, but he notes his stock is "soaring.". The Texans must come away with a potential franchise passer early in the draft.

Wouldn't you rather get a cheap young DB in the draft? CBs from Seattle sucking on other teams is still a concern. Would getting Sherm theoretically get in the way of paying Hopkins and/or Clowney?

They have a ton of cap right now. You can't fill every position through the draft. If a top flight guy like Sherman is available, I say go for him. Sherman isn't a nickel that leaves Seattle hoping to become the next big thing, he was their big thing

You would trade this years 2nd rounder for him? Cause from everything Im reading, its going to take a "high" pick

Absolutely. It definitively fills a hole, a 2nd round pick is a lot less certain

Sherman could follow in the footsteps of other past their prime DB's the Texans have picked up like Ed Reed.

I definitely wouldnt. Loud mouth, cancer, declining and up for a new contract. We shouldve just re-upped Bouye and matched Jax. In that case we dont lose a draft pick, have security on the outside and have continuity with no disturbance. Way too many question marks at other positions of need to throw a pick(a high one at that) and money at a potential locker room disruptor especially with the weak FO we have. PASS!

They have legitimate NFL CBs on their roster (JJo, KJ and KJ) - why would you waste valuable assets to acquire another one? This is just name recognition shopping; there's no reason to pursue Richard Sherman.

It's weird to say this because he is not on the Pats, but I honestly think Sherman is a "product of the system" the Seahawks play cover 3 consistently so he has more help and less area to cover, and he ONLY plays the left side which other teams can just move the best receiver to the other side. I think he is gonna bust on another team.. Also, lets stop spending assets to make our A defense into A+, lets make our D offense into B-C...

Sherm was just a fun hypothetical. I don't know if they'll trade him or not (it's definitely out there though) but I doubt Houston is trading for him.

What, you want to keep discussing Tony Romo & Pat Mahomes? ;)

If the offense gonna be subpar, might as well make the defense the best it can be. ;)

They need a QB, yes, but no rookie is stepping in day one.
They signed Lamar Miller; drafted Tyler Ervin, Kenny Hilliard, Alfred Blue (along with Grimes(FA?) & Hunt)
They have WRs but no QB to get them the ball; drafted Will Fuller, Braxton Miller, Jaelen Strong, Keith Mumphery, DeAndre Hopkins & Alan Bonner
Tight end? What's that? :p Oh, they finally figured out what those were last year.
They need OL help badly & that's where I'm leaning for their first round pick.

    Bill O'Brien era:
    23 draft picks
12 on offense; 11 on defense
    First 3 rounds(10 picks): 6 offense; 4 defense
    1 QB; 4 RB/FB; 4 WR; 1 TE; 2 OL
    5 DL; 2 LB; 4 DB

    Free agency?

    10 offense; 6 defense
    3 QB; 3 RB; 2 WR; 2 OL
    1 DL; 1 LB; 4 DBs

They've tried to fix the offense but the "QB guru" or "offensive guru" or ******* guru hasn't quite figured it out yet.

Similar to Matt Miller's point today I think there will be a huge run on offensive lineman in the top and middle round leaving us with guys like Davenport or Moton who are 2nd round guys.

Regarless how Romo may have panned out.....it's just ridiculous how the front office...cough....Rick....was so aggressive (too much) for going after Brock....then were perhaps too passive with going after Romo.

Oh well.....maybe he'll draft a QB in the first 3 or 4 rounds for the first time ever?

Be careful, you just alerted mr clutch with that nonsensical talk about ricky smits.
That guy needs to draft a qb consecutively in each round for the first 5 rounds to hit.

The Texans media hype machine is already pumping up Tom Savage and how he was the Texans choice all along.
