The Republicans (including Trump himself) were heavily against militarily interfering in Syria. Lay people such as yourself would have pushed the narrative that Obama was being a dictator and ordering military strikes without the full support of government and the people. How quickly people forget. Of course, Obama did make a mistake which was listening to the idiots on the Right or trying to get consensus support. He really should have tuned them all out.
Definitely some "wag the dog" going on here. It's quite a coincidence that Assad gave Mr.trump a golden opportunity to distract the American people from his troubles. Having said that, President Obama should have done at least as much when that "red line" was crossed. I agree with Hillary Clinton. Hammer them so Assad will think twice about parading his atrocities against his own people before the world. The horrific gas attack against innocents was a message sent to the Assad's opposition. We just sent a message of our own, and not simply to the Syrian dictator. About time.
Russia ok'd the missile strike. Look, I am sure Russia was pissed at the use of chemical weapons - it's not what they wanted at all especially with a pro-Russia white house. I guarantee you Putin told his little b**** that it was ok to launch some cruise missiles at Assad's military site to help their asset look a bit better in the polls and as a way to deliver Assad a message that Russia isn't happy. You will see that Russia will give a muted reaction to all of this. He did this because he thought that now he had a pro-Russia/Syria American administration in place that was more interested in fighting Isis and thought Assad was a stabilizing force that he could do whatever he wanted. I bet he regrets that decision now - not too much, but a bit.
Wag the dog. Just because Trump hits Syria doesn't mean he wasn't helped by the Russians (he was) and that he might be complicit (we don't know yet). There is no conspiracy theory. FBI/CIA say Russia wanted Trump to win. Question is how much did Trump coordinate with them to do it.

No he went the hard way. Dealt with the Russians on multiple cease fires and removal of chemical weapons. Went to Congress and it was crickets for support from YOUR Republicans. It's ignorant to say that he did nothing. However it's a reality that it still wasn't enough and what he tried to do (removing chemical weapons etc) just didn't work.
