Trump talking tough right now on gas attack. Looks like he'll surprise me, though I don't know if it'll be in a good or a bad way. Fingers crossed.
It's a behaviour pattern he inherited from his father decades ago. In 2011 ,He castrated, toutored and killed a 13 year kid for no rational reason aside from spreading fears and haulting protests. It's a contest of how low he/his supporters and apologists can go
This is really, really sad, and condolences to the families that have to bury their kids. What kind of unconscious monster can do things like this and not bat an eye? What is even more sad, is that stuff like this has become more the norm than the exception. I will fully admit that I need to understand this situation way more. I watched a documentary on the atrocities going on in Syria on HBO about three weeks ago, and I walked away ashamed of how little I knew. I'd like to know more, and I'd like to respectfully discuss what the best options that we could take, as a world superpower, to help end these kind of crimes against humanity. But no, in a thread that is about chemical warfare that was used against women and children, we have what, just a handful of comments actually discussing the topic at hand, grossly outweighed by one group of people that think a similar way politically attacking another group of people that think a similar way politically. Then one group has to defend their political views, while simultaneously hurling insults back to the other group, which then have to be defended, and on and on we go on this terrible, unproductive cycle. This is a criticism to all, so I won't make any friends with this post, but the few times that I am in D&D, it really is disheartening and soul-sucking.
The Trump administration declares that removing Assad is no longer a policy objective, Assad immediately gasses innocents and somehow that is the fault of the previous administration.
Well....I mean, it is. If the previous administration had done something about it like they said they were going to then it wouldn't be a mess inherited by the next administration now would it? If Obama had the balls to back up his "red line" comments despite Putin telling him to run on home and get his shine box then the situation would already be remedied. Instead now we have to see if a guy who is widely accused by Democrats of being in Putin's pocket has the balls to stand up to Putin and do something about Assad using chemical weapons when Obama didn't. I'm not optimistic.
As much as I think Obama made a mistake pulling out of Iraq and with his "Red Line" statement, I have sympathy for him or any President with regards to the region. There is no simple solution and it's a gigantic mess. I don't expect Trump to do any better. This is gonna work itself out on it's own and we are pretty powerless to do anything to change that without making a commitment this country simply isn't willing to make.
lol I'll repost this for your benefit: Obama and the liberals' Syria strategy: 2012: red line 2013: ? 2014: ? 2015: ? 2016: ? 2017: How can Trump allow this to happen!?!?!?
As stated in post 51 by FB the previous administration did the right thing as congress to use force against assad a republican lead congress.
Why is Trump getting blamed for this? and are we sure this was committed by Assad and not the rebels.
That's hilarious given that we just had 8 years of blaming every problem in the world on Bush. I mean, it doesn't make it any better when Trump follows in Obama's footsteps, but I wonder if this cartoonist had an Obama version of this drawn up.....my guess is he did not.
Depends on who you ask and who is in the white house. Partisanship will likely determine the response.
He was a Democrat that had a Democrat in office before him, he was screwed into taking blame or really looking foolish trying to blame Herbert Hoover.
He stated that he will cover Hama attack (which is different city from Eldleb). He also responded to an Iranian official by saying : this son of mot'a is spreading misleading info to cover up his turbans crimes
