Couple of things. Is it weird that McCann rejected Jake trying to throw the water in his face after a HR? I mean it is a celebration the Astros do all the time, does he also go home early instead of hang out at Club Astros after the win? Or it's nothing, just saying, you are on a new team, maybe try to acclimate, I wonder what Beltran or Reddick will do after their first HR.

Other thing, just a question, why is it that the fans boo when the pitcher throws it to first to send the runner back? Never understood that, what is the pitcher doing?

You don't understand why the fans boo or you don't understand why the pitcher does it?

Sometimes they just repeatedly throw over there, and that really pisses people off. I've booed a pick off move myself when it happens repeatedly. Pick off moves in general often "feel" like holding up an already slow game, even though most of them serve a real purpose. It's hard to convince somebody the throw to first meant something when they make those soft tosses.

For some reason in recent years, it has just become the thing you do anytime the opposing team throws to first. It's fairly new, but at this point it does seem like every single pick off move draws a cascade of boos even hard moves on a clear base stealing threat. People at first used situational boos out of genuine frustration, it just kind of grew from there.

I was asking why they boo, I assumed some kind of irritation at the delay of game, but even when its a clear attempt to get the runner lol. Just an observation.

Maybe it screws with the catchers mask to be all wet. i dunno.

fans boo cause it slows down the game and is boring. Pitchers often do it to get hitters out of rhythm.

You can't read into something like that. Not unusual in a dugout for some players to handle things differently than others. As long as they don't get offended by each other, it isn't going to be a problem.

As others have said, it slows down the action, and is particularly annoying when your team is at bat because usually you are excited about getting something going, but instead the pitcher throws over to 1st.

I like the feeling of this team this season!! McCann and Beltran will keep everyone focus and the leadership we did not have the last few seasons.

McCann doesn't know how to have fun playing baseball. Not a big fan of the guy tbh but if he helps the team win then I'm happy.

Meh, he just finished playing for the Yankees. One of the stodgiest teams out there in terms of behavior. Hopefully he lightens up a bit. They don't have to be hardasses to be successful.

I'd hope the Astros have towels.

The players have to pay for their own towels.

Yeah he's always been one of those. I think it's ok as long as the team stays loose overall, which they seem to be doing while still maintaining focus. I'm looking forward to the inevitable squab between McCann and Gomez/Odor very soon.

I don't think it is weird at all that McCann didn't want water thrown in his face.

The Astros celebrate a lot and I could see how it gets irritating.

Maybe that's why we still have not won a WS yet. We need to get serious and be all business when the game starts.

Fan and forum favorite, chris carter, never participated in those celebrations either. One or two of those get off my lawn guys are always necessary. We will need him when Hodor comes knocking. Glorious battle will ensue.

He treats the game like it's his job and demands respect.

BTW, He's gotten respect on every team he's played for.
