The other spin I saw that I liked was "protection from unfair prosecution." Total immunity protects you from more than unfair prosecution; it protects you from totally fair prosecution also. But I think there is a more charitable interpretation you can extend to Flynn. There may be gray areas in which he believes he acted ethically and within the law but also understands that possible interpretations of the law may come out differently. He might also be trying to not only protect himself from the media witch hunt that paints him as a traitor, but also the potential that Trump loyalists would try to use a prosecution in an effort to undermine his credibility. In such a case, he needs to watch out for payback from both camps. So I really don't take this as an admission of guilt anymore than I would someone pleading the 5th or refusing a search without a warrant.

I just don't see any compelling reason to give him immunity unless he can serve up Trump or unequivocally absolve him.

Does this imply that the SIC already knows everything Flynn wants to tell them, or that they want to educate themselves before Flynn drops bombs on them they weren't ready for??

Or, you know, that members of the SIC are so corrupt that they think by denying immunity, that would discourage Flynn from testifying??

I think it could be that they haven't been able to gather enough information to know if they need anything Flynn could tell them. It could also mean that they don't want to get ahead of the FBI. During Iran/Contra congressional committees offered some immunity to folks while the FBI was still investigating and ended up granting immunity to the folks that the FBI wanted to arrest and prosecute.

So they won't offer immunity and possibly screw up the plans by the FBI or other investigating agencies. There is no rush. The only real reason to offer immunity to Flynn is if he can provide evidence and testimony against people who were higher up on the totem pole than he was. That's kind of a short list.

It implies that they don't need Flynn's cooperation.

You are the one that said one of the two media outlets you mentioned is "fake news". You are the one that took the click bait title and then read what you wanted to see into the article. The title of the article was click bait to get liberals to click the link. Apparently, you are so caught up in the Democrat & media ("Trump/Russia") echo chamber, you are now incapable of processing what you read without a liberal slant. ROTFLMAO!!! Personally, I will let the facts speak for themselves when we actually know the facts.

You are talking total rubbish here and aren't actually saying anything about the content of the article.

Classic attempt to deflect away and derail the thread. If you have something to say about the situation say it. This drivel isn't debate nor discussion, it's drivel. Get back on topic man! Say something of substance or go back to your propaganda.

It's an interesting question of whether Pence is a net positive for both sides and their extreme members.

At this point, Dems are in a better footing with Trump being at this state given all of the paralysis and disunity within the opposition. Full impeachment would do the Republicans a favor with the charge that they aren't the only obstructionists against a legally elected President.

I know enough that it's going to be ****ty with either person. My personal metric would be the number of ****ty laws passed, but I think other Americans would rather hear less of the ****show our leaders are parading and actually take in any good news to build up their eroding confidence in the government.

At this stage my expectations are that a full investigation will still take months, and then any kind of impeachment proceedings will take many more months. By the time Trump resigns or is removed from office, Pence would emerge a very weak president as he would always be under suspicious (how could he have been clean if everyone around him was dirty?).

For Dems they have to make it to the end of 2018 and take at least one of the chambers to gridlock the right-wing agenda for good.

Bush commuted Libby, but I imagine he kept his mouth shut beforehand. Ford got tired of dealing with lawyers, but was going to pardon his buddy anyways. Trump should understand this going in.

I don't think they're even going to need Flynn at this rate.
FBI also apparently investigating super-fishy January meeting between Trump mega-donor Prince and Putin confidant in Seychelles. Prince is devas's bro [FIXED, thx], if I have that right.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-...n-secret-meeting-with-russian-close-to-putin/

    Drip, drip, drip.

EDIT 2: but this is just like birtherism, in the end, b/c the House and Senate had full intelligence investigations into birtherism, with a plurality of agencies saying Kenya did in fact try to falsify Obama's American birth certificate, and with most of Obama's cabinet having really strange connections to Kenya and then denying such connections under oath. Totally the same. :D

How baller of a job is being a Congressman that you'd be willing to so brazenly lie and carry these peoples' water time after time?

I've never seen partisan fools set themselves up for failure over and over again like this since the "birther" nonsense several years back. Keep holding out hope that one day you'll find something legit to hold against Trump.

I can understand criticizing rank partisan hard-on's over any and every bit of potentially damning information against the party/official they are opposed to. However, birtherisim madness is not remotely analogous to this series of events and ongoing investigations.
I rarely agree with a political stance of yours but I know full well you aren't a mouth breathing simpleton like the POTUS so I expect you know better as well.

It's obviously different, but both things were born of the same thing and that thing is partisan sadness over an election not turning out the way they wanted it to. Now if something solid comes up one day, that'll change things, but right now it's looking a lot like a witch hunt.

I mean it's not looking like anything yet. The FBI investigation needs to conclude and all the info needs to be released instead of bits and pieces.

If you've ever wondered why our conservative brethren seem immune to some of these more alarming reports on this front, I offer this tidbit.

Foxnews.com has nothing on the Seychelles meeting. Nor do they have anything from the ongoing Senate investigation. But they do report, with great disdain and alarm, that "New Jersey teen gets into Stanford after writing #BlackLivesMatter 100 times on application." OMERGERD! That makes my white ass so durned mad! Look, "black" and "university" in the same goddurned headline!

I mean, wow, only the news you need, right?

So the weird meeting between Putin's buddy and major Trump donor / Trump cabinet family member basically doesn't exist to a significant chunk of our population, and they've been diverted to more racial discord and the shiny (oh my, and not white!) object of Susan Rice! Look, Susan Rice! Rinse, repeat.

No wonder this country is headed full speed down the shitter.
