I'm all for signing Luis. Yes he's not a great defender, but he's a great post player and could be handy playing spot minutes when we're going through one of those 3pt droughts. He's also a winner and his presence on the bench and the locker room is immeasurable.
I was surprised to see him in so much pain, because this play looked a lot more painful for him ... it definitely was more painful for me to watch.
he's a true champion and a fighter, only tru champion can embarrass himself like that pick himself up like nothing happened and become a contributing player on a contender team...
Break hand > break ankle. I don't want injuries to anyone, but when you break ankles- you will lose speed and maybe lose the drive to the basket.
They do surgery for any displaced fracture on professional athletes these days. If Sam were the average person, they would probably just cast it up and let it heal, but not when your body is worth millions. The surgery has a lot more to do with who he is than how serious it is.
Keep in mind, the hand that is broken is his NON-shooting hand. So, that will help him get back faster. In the case for Casspi, his hand was his shooting hand.
On the positive side, with that cast, looks like he has an excuse not to take out the trash for awhile, so no further injuries likely.
Re: Terrence Jones It has been said that the wise man learns from his own mistakes. But the VERY wise man learns from others' mistakes. I say we learn from both. And besides, Houston is not his home. Originally from Portland? I believe. They are welcome to him.
I hope Sam will show good improvement in shooting the ball, along with some ball handling, in the off season. He could still become a decent, and consistent rotation player for us. I hope he will make a speedy and complete recovery soon. Go Sam Go! Go Houston Rockets!!
More likely because the hand has many small bones in it and is very flexible. Preventing any movement is the best route to proper and quick bone healing.
Update on injury coming Monday : http://www.houstonchronicle.com/spo...port-Sam-Dekker-to-get-update-on-11090867.php
http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets...er-getting-more-aggressive-rehab-11095041.php Sounds like he may be back pretty soon. He's shooting, catching, and handling the ball so hopefully he can play against San Antonio. If Anderson can't make a bucket, then maybe Dekker is an upgrade. He at least gives the coach more options.
