I think his post refers to your original typo.

very unlikely they'll go 4 righties followed by 3 lefties against RHP.

    Very true

I don't like Springer leading off though

I guess against righties Akoi plays and bats 1st or 2nd.

Springer led all AL lead off men in OBP with 400+ plate appearances and was 2nd among those with 300+ plate appearances.

The top 4 will be Springer, Bergman, Altuve and Correa for the foreseeable future regardless of who pitches, just like last season.

Huh. If that's the most "wow" move of spring training, we should all be happy with the roster going into the season.

Why don't you agree with this move. IMO we have plenty of middle relievers. gustave seems like he could be a great late inning guy with his stuff.

Didn't say I don't agree with it, I just didn't expect it. You could have predicted the rest of the roster (minus McHugh/Peacock) before ST started.

Maybe I'm biased from his first few appearances but I don't remember being super impressed with Gustave's stuff.

I wrote this on Sickel's blog about Gustave's call-up/first appearance

His FB sorta had that Folty problem, really fast but straight. If people know its coming they can hit it.

When you say he "led all AL players in OBP" are you talking about lead off hitters?

It can't include everyone else as guys like Trout, Donaldson, Ortiz, and Altuve were higher.

What did everyone think about Gattis batting 9th last night? Against a LHP, no less. That struck me as.... weird? Especially with LHs McCann and Reddick ahead of him in the line-up. I wonder what the story is there; if there's a strategy to it....

Only thing I can think is that Gattis projects to have the lowest OBP of any regular batter on the roster, and given that the other guys batting in the lower half of the order are pretty good, maybe they figure he will still come up with men on base often enough that his power won't be wasted in the 9 hole. Reddick-Gurriel-McCann (6-7-8 for Houston) would be at the top of the order for quite a few other teams.
