NBA average is about 1.1 points per possession. Counting his turnovers and free throws, that's about what he had. Nothing wrong with that. Harden is a more efficient player and that should matter. But you all act like Westbrook is god-awful as a scorer. He's just fine.
You're the one who is stupid if you drink the Westbrick koolaid. If Westbrick isn't pafding his stats how come he is no 1 on opponent uncontested fgs? I thought Westbrick was supposed to be an elite defender what happened? Now he can't even contest shots? Pfft.
No he's not. Westbrick is making max money why is he scoring at an average player rate? The average player is only making 8M in the old cap, probably 12M in the new cap.
Unless Harden scores a 40+ triple double tonight, with a hurt wrist, against a tough team on the road....Westbrick will have moved ahead in the race. Sucks, but the media (voters) don't care that Harden is the more efficient player. If they cared about efficiency than Kawhi Leonard would be competing against Harden for the award.
I didn't mean to imply you are stupid. The comment that OKC would be better without westbrook is ridiculous. You are very good at reiterating ESPN First Take talking points. You took my first comment as a way to go off on this MVP debate tirade. So many posters are obsessing about this. Just take a step back, forget about Harden v. Westbrook, and realize that both of these guys are having incredible years. You can compliment them both, and It won't be a snub if one wins and the other doesn't. Its going to be an incredibly close decision.
Won't be a snub, but for Harden to get absolutely nothing for all that he has done this year won't sit well with Harden nor the fans.
It wouldn't be a snub if it was in isolation, but when the reason for not winning 2 years ago was "team performance", it certainly will.
Your Westbrook thread got moved because it had nothing to do with the Rockets Let this be a lesson Rockets discussion is about the rockets
I'm not saying Westbrick is a bad player, but the way he is playing this season is detrimental to his team. So what if I'm reiterating ESPN first take points? Are you denying Westbrick doesn't lead the league in uncontested FGs? It's a fact. He doesn't defend his guy to chase boards. His big men spend their energy trying to box out their opponents so Westbrick can get the board. That's a fact too. Almost all of Westbrick's rebs are defensive rebounds, which are the "gimme" rebounds and don't have as big an impact as offensive rebs. OKC should be better than a 0.500 win team with the talent they have, yet here they are floundering with Westbrick taking too many shots and not really trying to win games. TBH I don't even care about Harden's MVP. But the "MVP" is supposed to be the guy the helps his team win the most. What Westbrick is doing is opposite of winning so why the F should he get it, and why should people care about his triple double when anybody can do it if he does it like Westbrick does? Monopolize 80% of the team's touches and you'll get double digits pts and assists, Allen Iverson and Stephon Marbury are known as the league's biggest blackholes ever but they got 7-8 assists a night average due to this, if you manage your pts/assists ratio then you will easily get double digit assists and pts. So really your only problem are rebounds and it has been documented the different ways Westbrick ensures he gets 10+ rebs a night. So if it's that easy how come nobody else has done it since Westbrick? Well first of all you need to have face thicker than the great wall of China to do it, most people would have more self-respect than to become a glorified stat chaser to the point that they blatantly leave their man to get more stats. Secondly you need to have the buy in of the team, if you're a scrub then your big men won't sacrifice their stats to give you 10 rebs a night and your coach will sit your ass down if he sees you leaving your man open to get rebs. Also, you need to have your franchise by the balls because otherwise you won't get 80% of the touches of the team (FYI Westbrick takes as many shots as 2nd and 3rd most guy on his team combined and his usage rating is record breaking). Finally, you need to actually be a good player otherwise you won't fool people with your BS. So combine all that you have Westbrick and his triple doubles. Harden can easily get a triple double average if he wanted to using the Westbrick Method, but fortunately for us he prioritizes winning games over his average.
