Fun Fact: Nunes spearheaded the effort to weaken the IRS's ability to see foreign donors to election campaigns. Hmmmmmmmm.
Sean Spicer is being extra entertaining today. He complains about leaks in one sentence and then pivots and says that all that matters is the substance of the investigation and not the process of obtaining the information (in reference to Nunes possibly getting his intel directly from the White House). And he's literally flip flopping between the two every 30 seconds. Oh and while he's not so subtely justifying giving Nunes information, he's complaining about Obama admin officials leaking information. Also he's justifying not revealing Nunes' source by pointing out that journalists hide their sources and then he turns around and complains that journalists won't reveal the sources of leaks.
Maybe the least shocking bombshell I've seen thus far in the Trump administration. The question has to be continued to be asked, why is the White House and GOP leaders like Nunes & Ryan obvious obstructing the investigation by derailing the focus on Russian hacking & what help they got from US officials? This isn't even a clever cover up. Its sloppy, and doesn't achieve their goal of changing the narrative. What it did do successfully is completely discredit the House Intel investigation and stall a public hearing of Sally Yates. However this will have LONGTERM impact on Nunes' political future. He's always going to be labeled as the guy who engaged in a cover up. *Interesting question though from a reporter today to Spicer about whether or not Nunes is being courted for a future high ranking role in the White House. Nunes really destroyed his credibility this past week so it will be interesting to see if he's rewarded for his loyalty to the President and lighting himself on fire for the sake of the President.
It isn't surprising at all. Who could've guessed that a Flynn deputy on the NSC - that McMasters sought to have removed before being overruled by Trump - would be the one to "leak" information to Nunes who, in turn, "runs to the White House" to tell Trump? It's a super clumsy attempt at obfuscation. Nunes is in a safe district and nothing short of outright embarrassment will cost him his seat.

After a review of the same intelligence reports brought to light by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers and aides have so far found no evidence that Obama administration officials did anything unusual or illegal, according to multiple sources in both parties. Their private assessment contradicts President Agent Orange's allegations that former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice broke the law by requesting the "unmasking" of US individuals' identities. Trump had claimed the matter was a "massive story." One congressional intelligence source described the requests made by Rice as "normal and appropriate" for officials who serve in that role to the president. And another source said there's "absolutely" no smoking gun in the reports, urging the White House to declassify them to make clear there was nothing alarming in the documents.
I had to click the link after seeing "President Agent Orange"...lulz. In the end it doesn't matter, he's not going to retract or restate--always double down and never admit being wrong, that's the prime directive of this White House.
